And yes... it is related to mapping, I want dual monitors to make mapping easier,

As always, any help would be appreciated,

Please post any replies on the linked thread. :)

Its only any good if your PC can support having lots of things open. Hammer on one and what on the other? DoD:S running around?

Thats a hell of a lot of resources needed. Hammer just eats RAM until you close it.

That said, I've done it before and its fun for a while but you really need to use TFT's or have a big desk. Its useful for other things such as photo editing whilst browsing stuff or playing flight sims :P

i had a setup with 3dsmax on left screen, texture and uvwstuff on the right, second screen. filebrowser took the rest of the space.

got back to single monitor, since my computer/3dsmax crashed a lot more that way than usual.

i'm used to tabswitch now.

I'm on a dual monitor setup and never found much use of multi-monitors for mapping. I have hammer run on one.. DOD starts on the other. But it doesn't really matter because you have to minimize anyway to jump back into hammer. And I wouldn't really keep DOD open while compiling something in hammer, so..

As far as having hammer running on both monitors.. It doesn't really work very well for me.

IF you can dig up a 3.8ghz processor and tag on over 2 gigs of ram, you'll be able to run hammer, dod source, 3ds, and various other programs simultaneously decently.

Good luck.

I have dual monitors, and its kinda handy for going through tutorials, but not so much with mapping in general. the biggest difference maker was the fact that one of my monitors is widescreen. just having that much more viewing area is handy, and it doesn't really work to stretch that over 2 monitors.

Well that certainly clears things up... I guess a wide screen monitor is next in line.

BTW I'm talking Hammer 3.5, DOD 1.3 not DOD:S.
