Allthough im sure it would be great you could perhaps make this topic one worthy of these forums and post some insight...

It's been featured in MoH:AA as an official map, and BF1942 as a custom map, I believe. I think that's what he's getting at. Either that, or maybe he's just talking about capturing the bridge.

the moh:aa map was called Ramegen, but wasn't actually the bridge, it was just some small town. there were screenshots of the bridge before the release, but for some reason they cut it from the game. i remember someone posting wip screens of a custom version though, but he never finished it.

i'm not sure how this'd work in mp though. the bridge was huge, and you can't exactly add flanks on a bridge, and there's not much else around the bridge to make a map of.

You couldn't actually make a map of the bridge itself...gameplay would be silly...each team on each side w/one route accross. What you COULD do however, is make a battle for the bridge support structure on the shoreline w/bridge itself part of the skybox along w/river, etc. This would be a factual battle where germans tried to defend the bridge and failed. It would be prettier to do the map on the east side w/mountain/hill/train tunnel to build and you could create the south end of the city of Remagen to act as axis spawn and the bridge itself to be the allied spawn.

Pretty open area...but I think it can be done.

Thats similar to one of the maps in BF:V, one team spawns on the bridge and then rushes into the city from there to get the cap zones etc and the other team has to get the cap zone on the bridge etc aswell.
It could be done but it'd be hard and the bridge would have to have decent amounts of cover/damaged vehicles on it for spawn protection etc.

A bridge map could be done, just the water would have to be the flanks for the people to get 'around' it. Maybe adding little boats in etc could help. The bridge wouldn't be big say 5000-10000 units long and have cap points on the river banks etc. It would require alot of thinking for how to get across. Also maybe adding someway 'under' the bridge aswell. Like the HL2 level on the bridge ;)

We are working on it!
A "Bridge at Ramagen" map for Day of Defeat:Source
is actual in the design stage, as a custom map.
My buddy and I are working on a map called "dod_ludendorff".
We have some screenshot for you here:

I'ts our plan to have 4 flags, a barge in the water, the tunnel, the 4 towers, the ditch blown by the germans, and so on. We have read the book, seen the movie and analyzed a pile of pictures. Still working... so some constructive input would be great.
