but i cant seem to find any desert textures for dod source (besides thoughs of css)
is there any out or should i use the css ones?

Have you thought about maybe using the coastal textures from the HL2 materials GCF? The costal levels have quite a few sandy texture in them.

yeah but the coastal sands dont look at all like desert sands. Best luck is to use de_dust textures.

Youll definately have to reduce the size and make them tileable to use those stock photos.

Americans fought in Algeirs and Egpt, try typing "operation torch" im sure from there youll find something.

Also, Medal of honor did some algiers stuff. If you own that game, dust it off and check it out. Call of Duty 2 also has some amazing North Africa maps too.
