Has anyone from the dev team said anything about adding new player models as time passes? I did a search but couldn't find any info.

No official word but I'm sure they will. Would be pretty suprised if we have a clone army for the long run.

cant you just hex the model to change its texture path?

Not without breaking the CRC checksum built into the model and the server would reject it.

But what if the server also had the same hex edited file?!

That would work for all the players connecting with the same file, everyone else would get kicked as their default models would not match the servers.

I'd love for this to be implemented.
Especially since there was so much variety in Heer uniforms - mixed tunics, pants, camo and gear.. and with the US Army, variations in the colour of the OD uniforms - anywhere from a yellow to green to brown.

well apparently someone named ukdecay hacked the original models - not for the purpose of cheating but for assigning each class it's own skin. He says they work just fine and do not get consistency errors.

I am merely posting this as reference. I do not believe it violates the forums rules as this is not a hackjob for a cheat. And if it is considered illegal by the developers then this is bringing it to light anyway.

If it works without consistency errors then thats cool. As I said, what I read was that any change to the MDL file resulted in a consistency error. I'd thought about doing something similar to give each player a different face.

To get rid of custom models/skins/sounds it's super easy... Just delete them from your DoD subfolders, and the game will revert to the default stuff again... :)

That was ridiculously off topic

It works, and i love it! :)
but does anyone know if it would be possible to have own "hands" (incl sleeves) for each class?
Wile E Coyote

yes it would, it would be the same process as he used to convert the player models.
HOWEVER....
keep in mind you need a good computer. Separate player models and separate skins ALSO means more memory use.

jeps, i know, this is why i don't need/want diffrent gear for all classes ;)
if someone told me how to do the sleeves models, or made them himself i would be a very lucky spezialeinheit :P :dog:
but the diffrent models alone rock :)

What a sweet download!!
Love it!
Is there one for the allied player models perhaps, different faces with faces that express EMOTION maybe?
Now that would ROCK.
I would almost be able to forgive the horrendous gameplay mechanics that were introduced if they had worked as hard on the models as the creators of HL2 did in their game...
