Help with gun normal map

I'm trying to add a normal map to my tommy using the photoshop nvidia plugin.

I have my v_thompson.vtf, and my v_thompson_normal vtf.

My v_thompson.vmt looks like this.



"VertexLitGeneric"
{
"$bumpmap" "v_thompson"
"$basetexture" "models\weapons\v_models\v_thompson"
"$bumpmap" "models\weapons\v_models\v_thompson_normal"
}


See anything wrong that would make it purple checkers? Note, the skin works fine without the normal map.

yeah, take out the first bumpmap entry, you only need one.

Even without it it wont work.

Also, does the game not allow custom sprites?

Bazooka smoke sprites, muzzel flashes, they all wont change when I edit them.
