A map [Release] forum
With the release of fuzz daddy's map and the other fine maps that are in the makings and I do say in the makings because most of them out there at this time are so in the raw .
A [Release] forums would be nice to congregate them all
Thanks

This has been discussed before... and the answer was inconclusive.

I dont think we need such a thing. I mean, we already (IMO) have way too many forums and subforums. Releases under main mapping forum gets way more attention than in subforum which is usually hiding behind something :)

I dont think it is required, you see there is a buzz atm with dod:s mapping. b4 dod:s was released this forum was rather quiet - just us regulars but not it seems everytime im here there are at least 5 viewing where it used to be just me at the time i was on.
This buzz will die down.

Totally have to disagree with you there, this is normal levels for me, mind you I haven't been on the forums for a few months, but if anything the activity died down once it got to the point that making anything for old dod wouldn't be worthwhile, now there'll be a resurgence in a once thriving custom map community.
As for the sub-forum, I could see it either way, it'd be convenient in some ways, especially for those that aren't mappers themselves and are only interested in finding new maps to play, on the other hand, it's not really necessary either.

I would have to agree with the original poster. Sections for Releases and Previews work very well in the MSA forums. They make it easy to find what you are looking for, not confusing in the least.
Would be all for the same thing in Mapping

I think a seperate release sub-forum would be great. Atari did this for their UT website. It works quite well there.

I browse many forum a day and do prefer everything in the same forum. If I want mapping I get everything in this forum.

i agree hardely with this post. although i try to check the forums regularly for new maps to add to my clans server i sometimes dont have a chance and by the time i do some maps have moved on to the next page =O\
plus i find the setup of the subforums in the MSA section quite useful to sift through the posts that dont apply to me

wierd, never heard of ya...
:D
I was against a release forum initially, but I'm starting to change my mind. it would make it a lot easier to keep track of stuff. along with that, I'd like to see a dedicated mapping forum mod to help keep things clean and civil.

Jeez no need to get defensive, my user profile probably got cleaned after being inactive for awhile. Idk, maybe a few people remember me, skdr, gingerlord, if you ever read dodmaps.com back in the day. Anyways, my forum ranks really doesn't matter to me and I'd rather not get in a flame fest.
It doesnt matter if you're a new member or not. Everyone can bring out their opinions. It doesnt really matter. Whoopy is a very old member here. Back from early beta days.
But now, lets keep this topic on track, shall we? :)

Nice avatar, skdr.
Now. Back on topic!
Yes! Release the Release Sub-Forum!:D
p.s. If anyone's wondering who would be willing to move all the current [REL] threads to the new subforum (if it were to happen), I would be happy to volunteer :)
I already sift through threads for map names, and WIP previews anyway;)
