It's Maschinen-Pistole 40 or just Schmeisser.

Looks good so far.

Sproily

It's funny how they call it Schmeisser when Hugo Schmeisser had nothing to do with the making of the MP38/MP40.

Hm you mind if I provide reload animation for it? The stock ones are incorrect (the notch that the bolt can go in was a safety, and had nothing to do with the reload).

if you do, you can find some demonstration videos on reloading the MP40 here (http://www.gunpics.net/movies/movies.html). :)

Yep, I will try to finish it today, I have already done the magazine, and have the major highlights done for the main cylinder.

Im at school at the moment, but when I get home I believe I will get it done.

There isnt much work on the map anyways. Unless I fail like the first time I tried to do this....

Thanks for the kind comments, even from Splint ;)

Take your time man! Make sure it's perfect before you release it :D

As far as I can tell from the screenshots (which seem a little dark) the dimensions are perfect. I can speak from personal experience AND about a hundred color photos that the side grips, which were made of Bakelite, usually have a slightly brown or reddish tinge to them (something the DOD:S model depicted accurately)

Makabi Gafera
10-24-2005, 07:22 PM
they weren't always made of bakelite I believe, if I've heard correctly bakelite grips weren't introduced until later on in the war, but I could be wrong.

10-24-2005, 10:10 PM
Well they were never wood or metal and plastic wasn't very strong in those days, so that pretty much narows the field

Do you want this weapon or not?

Is a name such a huge thing??

If it really matters that much I will release a model with it written wrong all over the place, and not release the right version at all.

Anyway, very nice work Gellyfish. It's nice to watch how a modeller gets better and better, I still remember your first few WIPs :p

Gelly I have to say...

I will be very interested in this release. I can see that you very accurately scaled and dimensioned this model. Not an easy job. Thing is, aside from one animation mistake, so does the default DOD:S model! So right off the bat you have some very stiff competition IMHO.

WHOOPS!

My bad. I swear I didn't know.

He posted the first few pics with sections missing so that just kinda made me think he was building the model. He forget to mention in his original post it was just a skin or that it was someone else's model....

NOW there is a link up with a pic with credits at the very, very bottom.... dude.... better documentation next time....

I'll just stop at that. Thanks for the heads up Makabi

They should be shot.

Twice.

And then killed.

Depending on where we shoot them.

I don't know why I was totally sure you modelled this too.

Hey sproily, do you think you and your band of merry men could do some first person hands sometime. The fat thumbs bug me, the HL2 hands were good, but then i reckon CSS and DoDS hands didnt quite hit it.

:P

Love the gun by the way. Keep up the good work. :carrot:
