I searched for this topic but can only find threads about importing .SMDs so forgive me if this has already been asked

I am looking for a way to either decompile dod s .MDL files so that can be opened with XSI or if there is a XSI plugin that opens .MDL files directly

You need to decompile the model first, you can't read the MDL directly.
