This will be my first DoD: S project. I had done a few CS: S maps but DoD was the whole reason I got into Source mapping.

Still a work in progress but would like to hear peoples opinions on it so far.

hrm.. looks like a good start :)

that area there looks a lil too open.. maybe add a few bushes (like along the sides of the houses), and more displacements on the ground?

i'll be adding ur mapname and screenshots the the DBs

Thanks mate.

The top two pictures we're taken yesterday where as the third one was earlier today, I've added a fair bit of cover there now. But as for displacments, still doing the final parts of the map then I'll start the displacment, as its a ***** to align sometimes.

'Sew' doesn't work as well as I would like it too either ;)

/me get's the feeling of Call Of Duty map mp_brecourt (http://www.callofholland.nl/images/mp/loadingscreens/mp_brecourt.jpg).

Nice work mate, keep up the good work!

Looks pretty good! I like that this map has more open fields.
What I'd suggest:

-Create the illusion of an open space, I wouldn't use closed fences on both sides (on one side you could build in a gate or something).
-A bit less uniform buildings (for example a house and a barn, or something like those).

looks good but the houses loot to blocky and 1.3 ish make your houses more life like and i think you've got something here

The houses themselves I've made on separate map files, just so I can pay more attention to them, one of those houses took me a few hours, it was a mega pain in the ass.

I'll have a look into it!

I like the openess in this map. gives the rifles an oportunity to be used as the dev team have designed them to be used and makes those smg'ers run for cover and think a bit before rushing in :D

is all what we see what we get? because i only see one flag icon, and i think i can picture the map, 2 main large paths seperate by the line of fence and houses.

Why would you ask a question where the answer is already stated within the first post? ;)

Its a work in progress meaning... its a work in progress! :o

Working on adding more areas at the moment, and makeing it look less 'uniform' -- there will be a total of six flags, the middle two being 2 person captures.

Also been experimenting with skybox tree's as with dod_flash.

I love the look of the map

-but-

the tank looks tiny compared to the world on the second (last posting) picture there......

Just seems a little odd in an otherwise SWEET looking map!!!!

Keep up the good work!!

it shouldnt, because most of everything you see in the picture are also models (including the tiger tank)
so the scale is right. maybe you are just looking at it different since its in the middle of a large field

These sprite trees are looking cool from the screens,Im just wondering how they behave when theyre really close to the playable area.

As there billboard images,it might look real odd when you get to turn around them.

I just dont feel like making a testmap to see how it works :p

My only concern is the excessive use of sandbags. Maybe find an alternative object for cover.

Although you may not be including an official overhead view of the map, could you provide some kind of a layout drawing (even a simple one)? To me, that gives a very helpful reference to the screenshots.

In other words, instead of just getting comments on the appearance of the map, if you include some kind of a diagram and maybe how you'd describe the map, that could help everyone provide additional feedback.

Hey,

I've been playing this map yesterday evening and liked it a lot.

I have some small issues though:

First of all: when you are in the attic of the left building just outside spawn (Axis, I think) you can see outside of the map, which is not very nice.

It played very nice and enjoyed it.
I would just like people to stand still more often. How else are they expecting to get killed ? :-)

I was sniper and I find it hard to kill people at those great distances (when standing). I hit them a lot, but most of the time this was not enough to kill them. So for gameplay this was good, because of the distance it was not a slaughter (from my side). For me it was less fun :-(

Another small thing: in the same house there is a cupboard (or something like that) on the floor. When you come from the stairs and want to go to the side-exit, there is not enough space to go between the cupboard and the wall. This was enoying.

Last thing: It is too easy to spawn camp (did not really happen, because we had nice players), so I would suggest adding another exit at least (or something else that prevents spawn campers being able to... well... spawn camp)

Overall a very good map ! !
