Okay technically it's my skin and not the default on the right, but you get the idea :D

FYI, that left skin is the exact same player Axis class as on the right, but from Beta 1.1

DO you have any 1.2 or 2.0 skins shots? They must of jumped from 1.1 to 1.2? cause 1.2 is when i started and i can swear they were never that bad!
( Not saying those 1.1's werent good for a first release, I just remember them looking allot better)

It's called progression?
The old skin on the left is more detailed than the default actually (just minimality modelled)if you think about. But then again this isn't a fair comparison since it has your edits which is not a very good way of comparing this kind of stuff.

That progression is obvious. Compare a hl1 mdl with a hl2 mdl...the progress the g-man made is great.

Still, I find this little bend over mdl of dod:s a bit weird. Why is he bending over?

The skin on the left IS the default

because that is the way all the "idle" stances are is DOD:S, or hadn't you noticed while playing the game?

I did, but that doesn't explain why the mdl is designed to bent a little over. Are his hammeroids bothering him?

When you have gear on your back, it's alot easier to bend over a little then it is to stand straight up, straight up the smallest push will make you fall over backwards

looks so much better! But I'd still like to see the DoD player models ported to Source, just for fun.

BTW, anyone seen that basketball game on Xbox360? Wow, the graphics have come far....clothes move, you can see drips of swet and everything.

since DOD old versions had submodels for each class......i think DOD:S has backed down on that aspect....it is a shame......we are forced to play with an "army of clones"....that's the main point: a poor variety of player models.

A difference....but not a HUGE one.

Because of Diminishing returns, every increase in graphics gets smaller and smaller...

A DoD 2 wouldn't look THAT much different than Source.

In future games I think the most noticable difference will be specular and bump effects. Because at some point increasing the texture resolution won't really make it look much better, except when looking at it very closely, which rarely happens in First person. However, you might notice a different on in specific animations where the guns are held closer to the players view.

Specular maps on metal objects are going to become very important, and the typical PS Tutorial Guru baked in shiney metal lighting stuff will fade into the sunset.
