Hammer Crash during Compile
Vis keeps locking up at 9... just before it finishes. Anyone ever get this problem and found out what was casuing it?
I added a bunch of prop_statics in the form of windowframes for my houses, and just other brush work. I have no lighting in my map except a env.
When ever Vis locks up, if I kill it in the task manager, everything else compiles fine and I can play my map. The water is all messed up, and the lighing inside houses is messed up aswell. Everything else looks normal.
I did a lot of new work on my map and don't want to revert back to an old save. Unless I really really have too.
Oh sorry, it's on PortalFlow that it stops

how long did you wait for it to go? I had thought mine locked up on that same thing, but it just took a while..
You could try setting vis to the "quick" option and see if it goes

ctrl+alt+delete, then click on processes, then close vvis. It's not a great way to fix it, sure, but it works and so does the map, although there are some minor flaws and discontinuities in the map.

I get an exception error when vis finishes everytime I compile, it doesn't seem to affect the map though, I just close the error and it compiles fine.

The new version of batch compiler is awesome, it tells you right away if your map has errors that hammer would not.
I heartily suggest getting it.
It also uses far less resources and thus compiles quicker because hammer is not active and taking system ram.

I agree with watchtower, batch compiler is the way to go, make sure you get the source files for the configuration unless those are now added in the install. On bonus is you can also keep mapping while you compile, if you compile in hammer you can't work with it.
Ahh that would be perfect. I have two computers and I can compile it on my other one while I map/play on this one :D
I didn't know you could compile maps without Hammer.
Oh btw, it was just TAKING forever. I guess all the new stuff I added really increased the compile time. Took 20 mins!
