[DoD:S - Normal Maps] Misc props_

Alrighty! More normal maps for the masses.

This dl includes the props_crates, props_doors, props_interiors, props_vehicles and props_exteriors folders. The most obvious changes are the tank and landing craft and the cafe exteriors in dod_anzio. As requested by Jed and others the tank features zimmerite.

Beware, this is a big download, 28mb for all of it. Just stick the assorted props_ folders in your materials/models folder.

Beware! Can impact performance having this many normal maps!

I run all this, all weapons, sleeves and hands, player models and I get about 4-5 fps hit. Your milage may vary though, my comp has a track record of doing much much better than it's supposed to.

well i have a x850xt and stuff so i get a pretty nice framerate and i just dont want to get down to like 20 fps because of everything being normal mapped :)... i dunno i might give it a try

Looking at that third pic, the arch, the normal map seems back-to-front. The grout between the bricks seems to pop out, rather than in.

Joined a server today and noticed this message spaming in my console:


Material models/props_doors/doorframe_02a is being applied to a model, you need $model=1 in the .vmt file!


Dont know if this is normal or not, just a heads up :D

I know, but nothing I've tried has made any difference. nVidia's tool just got it in it's head that grout was supposed to be out and stuck with it.

I haven't noticed any of that in my games, but if it needs a "$model=1" then by god add it! :)

Tried inverting the greyscale texture before you make it a normal map? :rolleyes:
