Here it is, Me and Stoffer are finally beginning to work on Crossroads again. We are redoing the map from the ground up and hope to bring you a great expierence.
dod_Crossroads is based around Operation Market Garden and is heavily inspired by Band of Brothers. These pictures are of the city of Eindhoven near the crossroad dikes.

Wow, very nice, it's better than anything I could do but...
The sky seems a little bit darker than the movie I think, but still, it's very good!

Great job Plato, I suppose I'm going to have to scrap my idea for my map, though, since Carentan had the Cafe De Normandie :(

Just don't forget: Market-Garden = Holland, and Normandy is in France...might want to change that on the one building.

Yea Andy, Stoffer brought that to my attention but I don't know if I wana change it, like an easter egg or something...maybe.
Also, Die Schlampfe, you don't have to scrap your idea. Your welcome to make a Carentan map. Allthough there is allready a dod_Carentan. Just make a Cafe de Normandie texture and slap it on a buliding, but thats the easy part. A single building or texture should not make you change your mind. But I have a feeling that your map will evolve (like all maps do) into something else. Good Luck.

Well if there is already a dod_carentan, then I have to scrap my idea. I was wanting to base the map I made off the fighting in Carentan seen in the 3rd episode of Band of Brothers.
If someone has already done this, or used certain parts of it in their own maps, then I don't want to look like a cheap rip off. I apologize to the creator of the original dod_carentan, for I didn't know one existed.
I'll just have to come up with a better idea instead, I might still use the same objectives and key things from the map I was planning but instead completely change the environment I was shooting for.
I don't think I actually played dod_carentan that much, but if I remeber correctly it was a guys first map or something, not really like bob at all. Maybe I'm thinking of a different map.
I wouldn't worry too much about making a carentan map, maps on bob or spr are gonna happen, and people aren't gonna pay attention to whether or not they made it first. It makes sense anyway, if you didn't come up with the idea originally, it's not yours... (/me shrugs)
And, crossroads looks better than ever, can't wait to see the country side stoff. ;)

If I were you I'd continue carentan...because the already existing dod_carentan does look like someones first map, and I'd sure like to see one that is BoB themed...although my friend is working on that very thing...

And that is the reason why I won't make it, I have some great ideas that I'm going to implement into a map of some kind that I was going to use for my own carentan map but I'm hoping to now come up with my own idea.
It looks like an excellent map for DoD v1.

With all due respect, I think you have the band of brothers episodes 'crossroads' and 'carentan' confused. I promise you that cafe de normandie does not appear anywhere in the 'crossroads' episode. Still, truely excellent work.

Eindhoven - I love that town... the airfield on the western edge... haven't been there in sooooooo long.... beautiful town.

Agreed, i live in Holland, and that doesn't lile Holland to me....
Try GOOGLE to find sum truefull pics, besides that the map looks fine...;-)

Well, I know the architechture is not authentic or Dutch. But I doubt I will change it to make it more realistic. However, the map is still dod_crossroads and based in Holland. Sorry if its not accurate but it looks fine and I'm more focused on layout and good looking architecture than realistic or authentic architecture.

The old one was out of control. The Layout sucked, the texture usage was huge, and the skyboxing was insane. (look at the attached pic to see how massive the old one was) We need a smaller and more well-planned map so i decided to start over. Stoffer's crossroads probaly won't be changed as dramaticly are redone completely as my city is.

Noted, thanks for the tip. However, i'm finding it hard to make it "less-gray" Maybe a sky change with some better lighting. But i like the drab feel it has now. Anyone else have input on atmosphere? Do you like it more drab and dank or more brightness and better sky?

Sounds similar to my idea but mine is no longer based around Market Garden but instead another town battle in France or one of the many last battles fought in Germany. So is that tank actually moving? If so, does it have trouble with teh move_with command? This is one thing I'm trying to find a way around (by using a Worldcraft entity instead of a model). Anyway sounds good and I'll be getting it when it is released ;)

Not to sound particularly *****y, but I have a few complaints. First off, the bridge that almost blew up Winters, Welsh, and 1st platoon was near Son and wasn't mentioned in the series. Second, Cafe de Normandie was in Carentan, Normandy, France, not Eindhoven, Holland, Netherlands. Third, the episode Crossroads didn't take place near Eindhoven, but far north of it. It took place on an area of land seperated by two rivers nicknamed "The Island", to the north of the island was the Rhine, to the south of the island was another river which I forget the name of, it was at least 30 miles north of Son and Eindhoven. As Nixon mentioned in the series, it was one of the few parts where the Allies had the Germans on the German side of the Rhine.
Also, was this bob_crossroads, the one that was in production before or shortly after the release of 2.0?

Yea he has a point in the series, the epidsode crossroads mostly took place between 4 fields roads seperating each one, the allies led by winters stormed onto germans side. I don't remember any towns or even a tank in the movie, ur map looks good but can u clarify where it takes place.

why worry bout realism.. its a game, if you want realism, go join the army and see that you cant "respawn" or have a crosshair in the middle of your screen. Games arent meant to be very realistic, as long as they run fine and play great, its good nuff..

Anywho, i'm currently looking for someone to take up this map. I have not mapped in the past 4 months or played dod or been on the computer much at all. So....as of now it will just sit on my HD until i can find someone i know and trust to finish it.
