Hammer not showing DoD models

Ok I have asked this question in the custom fgd thread with no answer, so here say again...

I cannot get any models or any dod content to show up in hammer, it is only from the source models.gcf, I have changed SteamAppID to 300 and everything is set up correctly, does anybody know why hammer refuses to load the dod content?

I've seen people talking about extracting all the models from the dod GCF, what purpose does this serve?

Thanks in advance.

I'm getting the same problem.. and I know people have a solution to this because they have their maps with DOD Source models in them.

What is wrong?

Do you have dod source textures though? I can see how there would be a bug if you had only part of the gcf to show up, but if nothing shows up, I'm inclined to say it's your setup that's wrong...

yeah, I can see the dod source textures just fine

Yes, you have to do this.

Extract the model folder from the dods .gcf and place it in your day of defeat/dods folder.

Path:

C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\yourname\day of defeat source\dod\models

If the models are lacking textures in hammer, you will need to extract the dods/materials as well and place them in the:

C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\yourname\day of defeat source\dod\materials

I haven't had to extract anything, and I know others never had either

Do you mean models aren't showing up in the browser or when you place them on the map?

they're not showing up in the browser. the path says:
[ROOT]/models

but everything shown is the HL2 models.

models are showing up fine when i place them

Yeah, i havent need to extract anything out of the gcf either. Setup is most likeyly wrong. You know that when you play DoD:S it switches your SteamAppID to 220 again. I just made a shortcut to my GameInfo on my desktop so everytime i go to map, i just do a quick convert to 300.

Changed it to 300 when steam wasnt running, checked it when i was running steam (it said 300), and when i started up hammer, i checked the file again and it still said 300.

What else?

I did everything described in this (http://www.hl2world.com/bbs/day-of-defeat-source-mapping-beginners-guide-vt40896.html) post (dunno if anything is different to what've been posted here). Models show up in the browser for me. Only problem besides the game id thing is that I've to start Hammer via the SDK Menu. If I run the exe directly it switches to HL2 mode.

You do not need to unpack the GFC, with my setup, it shows my HL2 models AND my DODS models, are you sure you're not just not looking for the right thing?

I have the same problem, and I think that unzipping models from the dodsource gcf won't help because the only models I can access are within another gcf file. In order to access the dod ones you would have to change the directory that the models path defaults to, or import the dod models into the other gcf maintaining the same file structure (which I don't know how to do).

Yeah.. that's what I tried to do. I tried to look for the models path in the GameInfo.txt, dodcustom.fgd, and some other one... but there wasn't any model path that I could see..

I suppose I could just copy the DODS models into the HL2 folder... but would that really do anything? Or would that just take up alot of pointless room on my hard drive?

I fixed this problem long ago..it turns out I had made a backup of gaminfo.txt in my day of defeat source folder (not the dod one) and was chaning that value to 300 instead of the dod one...

Just make sure your SteamAppID is set to 300

Followed this and all is well now. I did follow that one. Some reason that one didn't work... then I followed another one posted in this forum by SomethingWicked... and that didn't work. So I ended up combining bits of both... and although it now works... the only thing that isn't is the models.

Okay... I just redid MungoToadfoot's instructions...
...still nothing about the models.

What now?

Mungo's file setup migh tnot be the same as yours. I have my steam located in C:/Program Files/Valve/Steam. Make sure that your directories are correct. Some other people have things like C:/Valve or C:/Program Files/Steam.

Check all of the directories for everything u coded in.

If it doesn't work, your either doing something wrong, or you have the directories screwy like the post above...this will work if followed through perfectly, do everything step by step, and check yourself.

LOL!!

Well, er. Naturally, I changed the directory paths to fit mine. Fortunately I do carry a bit of common sense and I am not totally computer illiterate ;)

Either way, I did follow them step by step.. and I still don't get the correct models to show up.

Anything else?

Check to see if the app ID is set to 300 in your gameinfo.txt in the "day of defeat source/dod" directory because sometimes it changes back.

What else? Any other suggestions? The AppID isn't a problem.

[edit]
OMG!!!!!!!!!! The models were there the entire time!!!!!!!
I just had the HL2 models showing up also!!!!

OM*G!!!!!
*ultra-nub raises hand*

Okay. anybody know how to filter out all the HL2 models, then?
