A Dubious Gift: DoD_Bunker .rmf

Hey guys,

I'm not sure how this thread will be received, but I decided to go ahead and post it anyway. If it holds no interest for you, just ignore it.

Back in the 2.x days I made a map called dod_bunker. I was pretty new to mapping, and got flamed a couple of times for releasing a premature and amateurish map. However, I believe that dod_bunker was coming along very nicely toward the end of its development period. Unfortunately, I ran out of time and had to quit working on it. Haven't mapped since.

Thing is, though dod_bunker is not a mapping masterpiece from an artistic standpoint, I still believe that its general layout and concept are unique and the gameplay on it would be great, as well as refreshingly different. Here's a brief summary:

Allies spawn in a ruined building at the bottom of a hill. At the top of the hill is a building with some MG towers and a defensive wall. The whole hill is hollowed out with two (or three, can't remember) basement levels underneath the main building. The lowest level is a weapons research and development area for the Wehrmacht. There are many ways into the bunker: an artillery shell has punctured the hill and you can access a vent into the 2nd level from there; You can assault the main building and go below from there; in back of the building, a grass camouflaged elevator shaft leads down to the lowest level (I think). The hill itself has various obstacles and side routes to provide the allies with shelter from incoming defensive MG and sniper fire. Anyway...

As I said I still think the gameplay on dod_bunker would be great and would be welcomed as something different, because it has a vertical layout. Thing is, lately I've had the urge to finish dod_bunker, but there's NO WAY I have the time to learn how to map in Source, though I'd like to.

I don't have any screenshots or concept drawings to show you, or I'd post them. I can, however, provide a link to the .rmf file:

Now granted I don't even know if you guys can do anything with an .rmf file so old, but if you can, and you like the look of the map, feel free to claim it, retexture and redesign anything you like for Source, and release it. Maybe give me a nod as the concept creator upon release, but other than that it's all yours (assuming anyone wants it). If anyone can fire it up in Hammer and post some screenshots, it'd make me all warm and fuzzy inside to see it again.

Thanks for reading and have a fine Sunday afternoon...

Looks kinda fun, really small though, good deathmatch map it looks like ;)

Can you supply the WAD please? I really can't be bothered to retexture the whole thing...

yeah, you know what? I don't know what I did with the .wad file. This was over 2 years ago now and I guess I only saved the .rmf. Talk about a lack of foresight. Anyway, I understand anyone who wouldn't want to deal with texturing it. Although I guess it would have to be retextured for source regardless....
