Wishful Thinking...

Recently with the British discussion in the General thread, I have been thinking of an idea for a British Paratrooper map.

Of course, there are plenty of ideas that come to mind...storming a factory, taking a bridge...

...Then I think to my favorite WW2 movie of all time...

Where Eagles Dare was a great movie about British Commandoes storming a Nazi castle and rescuing double agents.

If this were to become a map...it would be a big-ass map. It could possibly be broken up into chapters, similar to the maps in Sven CoOp.

Basically, the first part of the map would have the Brits spawning in a snowfield while the Axis have control of a small village and cable car station. The object of this part of the map would be for the brits to take the station and clear the area of Germans. Once the area has been capped, Germans will stop spawning and begin spawning at the top of the line.

Now, the Brits would have to make a harrowing cable car journey while the Axis use MG's and rifles to try to take them out. The object would be to storm the station at the top of the mountain.

Next would basically be indoor combat in narrow hallways and staircases. Explosives could be planted to blow key areas to give the British the edge.

Next would be the cable car trip down the mountain. The final objective is to destroy the station, so that pursuit from the castle is cut off.

Finally, a mad dash to the airfield. The object would be to either cap the tower, or have all Brits make it to the escape plane after blowing up the tower.

I know this is wishful thinking, but it would be an original idea for a great map. Personally, I can see this map broken down into 3 maps and still run great.

Good thinking, you should make it yourself too.

Now to wait for the brits to be back...

Now to wait for the brits to be back... Or we could temporarily make it a Allied map while we wait for the Brits to be implemented. But then again, I get the feeling that it would probably be awhile before this map is done anyway since it's still in the "idea" stage. But that *does* sound like an awesome map.

Hah...makes me wish I was a modeller/mapper. I guess I could learn, but it would be a while until the map would come out.

The idea is yours, you could start out small, maybe making a small portion (or portions) of the map, then gradually work your way up to the big finish.
