anyone know how to go about doing this? Im lost! *sniffle* the old HLMV and DoD/CS had a nice export/import texture feature in it, which isnt included in the SDK Model Viewer, which doesnt include DoD:S in the mix anyway =/

Get GCFScape (http://nemesis.thewavelength.net/index.php?c=75#p75) open your 'Day of Defeat Source' GCF file from your 'Steam Apps' folder and then go to dod->materials->models and there you go! From there you can extract them.

i dont think i have the one to convert it back to vtf ... to tga yes, and i HAD to have had the one to convert back i released a CS:S skin way back, the US Army 3 color at hl2files.com ... it sucks for a fast first source skin, but if you have the link handy that would be great :)

You extract the tga from the vtf and then you have to import it back in and put the edited vtf in the right directory.

I got a lot of errors trying to import my targa back in, so I just unchecked everything I didnt understand on the import screen and it worked okay for me.

Easiest way is copy our the VMT's for the model you're reskinning into a folder of their own, drop your new skins in tga format there, and for both folder locations use the folder you put them in.

Then just go to file-convert to vtf and do it for your tga files. Then just drop the compiled .vtf's in the appropriate folder in your DoD:S directory.

I managed to create a skin now, and have it ingame, however it is a bit stuffed up. Some black seams have appeared where before i am guessing was some transpereancy thing? Know how to fix it anyone?

im still having trouble, every time i try to recompile the TGA into a VTF again i get the same stupid error saying set my VPROJECT to my game path, which doesnt make sense because ive done that too and still doesnt work

*EDIT* im going to try and use VTFTool rather than vtex and tga2vtf.bat

*EDIT X's2* wow VTF Tool was much easier than using vtf2tga and vise versa w/ vtex ... me <3

Yes that's the same problem i have, it seems as if all the textures become misaligned or something after you make them? Or some transperency dissapears or something crazed.
