[HUD] Stripped HUD (Only Ammo counters, Fire Select icons, MG overheat icons left)

Dillinger's Stripped DoD:S HUD
__________________________________

INFORMATION:
I made this because since DoD 3.0b, I've been using a HUD that only had the ammo counters in it. In DoD, getting shot once is about all you need to die, so why do you need to know your health? As for stamina, well, once I start running slow I know I'm out of stamina. Some veteran DoD players, like myself, don't need or want health and stamina bars. This is what this does.

This is multiplayer compatible, won't get you kicked from servers. All weapons tested, so icons are in the right place.

WHAT'S LEFT IN THE HUD:
I left the ammo counters, your fire select graphic (semi-auto & auto icons) and your MG overheat meter in the default HUD locations so you can still get that info. Of course, death messages are still there, too.

INSTALLATION:
Extract the UI folder into your C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\yourusername@host.com\day of defeat source\dod\resource folder.

Once extracted the directory path should be C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\yourusername@host.com\day of defeat source\dod\resource\UI

SCREENSHOT:

Enjoy!

That's great, would you consider making a version wich shows the health aswell? :sheep:

I don't know if this is too much to ask, but could you make one that is set-up almost just like DoD:G??

Your the man dil...

Like yourself, i played with ammo counters only taking away health and stamina.

Less distractions, the better but im sure u know what i mean by that ;)

As an added bonus, this is the FIRST dods custom file i'm using.

Awesome work, this is what I have been waiting for.

Stamina is easy enough to get a feel for when it has recharged but I am not yet sure about the health, I will have to play with this and see how it goes.

Thanks, :)

Edit: Is there any way I can remove the dark yellow coloured bar behind the objectives and the heat bar?

Heya Dillinger, could you make one aswell with a small health bar left of the magazine? Around the same size as the thompson magazine in your image.

I would be honored! :).

Screenshots say much about the stipped HUD :) Very nice done.

I haven't DoD:Souce yet.. so I couldn't have any experiance with the new HUD.. but when I watch the screenshots that where released the last days.. Then I'll believe certainly that this stipped HUD is beter to use!

Once again.. great work!

Nice job. For you guys wanting modifications, couldn't you simply edit the file and change the settings to your preference...

"PlayerStatusStamina"
{
"ControlName" "EditablePanel"
"fieldName" "PlayerStatusStamina"
"xpos" "10"
"ypos" "161"
"wide" "266"
"tall" "32"
"visible" "1"
"enabled" "1"
}

etc, etc ...

Yup, I'm tweaking my HUD right now to get it just the way I want it.

Dillinger
09-28-2005, 04:02 PM
Yeah the HUD tweaking is fairly simple.

I just basically changed 1's to 0's to get the HUD the way I wanted, the only thing that was difficult was figuring out the perfect X axis position to get the ammo counters in the very bottome left of the screen.

Just thought I'd make it for those who don't like to tinker with the .res files.

I should be making new Capture icons, too. Hang in there! Maybe tonight?

oh i see but what about if i want to change it. Like change the colors and everything. I wanna make a new hud different then the default. Any ideas how that can be done?

Or perhaps instructions on adding the health bar somewhere? Normally I wouldnt use it, but sometimes you never know what you health is, and end up jumping out of a window to your death.

The Xpos field determines its horizontal position on the screen (the lower the number the more left it is, the higher, the more right) and Ypos is of course it's vertical position on the screen, so you'd have to tinker with it to get it out of the way of the ammo counter.

The ammo counter is at xpos "9" and "ypos" "135".

trying this out but the heallthbar doesnt show up on the screen. i hid the mg overheat icon/ rate of fire thingy. but cant get healthbar to show up. ive set visible and enable to 1, tried different x/y positions but it doesnt show on the screen anywhere :(

*edit*
any chance of supplying these files with default values. so we can edit them from scratch? or better yet share with us how you got these files 'extracted' from the game in the first place.

i need to be able to see my health, i had to delete this and go back to default hud cause i killed myself to many times hopping from a window not knowing my health =/

Ahoy. I did the same, with the same results. Perhaps we are missing something, or I'm just an idiot (which is the most probably case.)

So how do you turn the whole HUD off? No ammo, stanima, or health??

I'm a total boon at modding, if someone did it, could they share it by uploading somewhere?

If possible can we have one without the Overheat/Select indicator and no ammo either? I know roughly how much ammo i have anyhow so i'd rather have no clutter at all. That would be awesome.
