[MREL] Enfield Reskin With Hi-Res Wood

[UPDATE]: I just updated the zip file with a sharper, higher-res skin. I was told a tip to retain the skin size, which was slightly blurring the texture. So now I think it looks a lot better. It really made a difference. So check out the new picture and download the updated version. :D

Just finished this one up and finally got the transparency working.
Hope you like it!

FEATURES:
- A Hi-Res 512x512 Photo Realistic woodgrain texture taken from a 1600x1200 Digital image.
- Includes Reskinned Regular Enfield and Scoped Enfield, along with P, V, and W models for both.

CREDITS:
Original Model & Skin: DoD Team
New Wood Skin: Dillinger

PICTURE (this is like 105kb, so beware 56kers):

My untrained eye cannot spot the difference, but I'll d/l it anyways. Maybe I'll notice then.

hi i'm new, and i like your wood texture a lot. i just started using photoshop and am totally new to skinning, i made this just as a practice. i never like the faded grey look on the enfield, i like sharper black models so i wanted to try this out... i think it looks good together. tell me what ya think

Not bad at all!

Tip: to get the sharpest textures ingame, compile with $cliptotextures, otherwise the compiler will crop the textures, making them non-512x512. And when textures are not powers of two, they get resized. And resizing = bad.

Ahh so that's why it does that!
Thanks, Ripa! I will recompile!

thx for the tip, are there any tutorials that can show me how to make skins without having to just recolor the ones that are there? how do people know where to put the different parts of the gun?

For just a reskin, Poison, open up the model you want in HLMV and export the .bmp's for what part you want to reskin and then replace the parts. If you can't tell what the pieces are, you can always draw little lines on the skin and then import them.

Wow! That made a HUGE difference to the quality of the skin. Thank you so much for giving me this info. I'm going to recompile all my old models with this so I can get the skin quality I wanted .

The zip file and picture are updated with a sharper, even higher-res skin :D

For my own personal use I'm adding notches in the side of the gun, to signify funny kills ^_^

Great job as usual! And I know it's been said before, but practically all the models I use are yours.
