DoD:S Custom Sprites?

I've just done some work on some custom Objective Icons, in the style of 1.3 DoD, because I don't overly like the DoD:S ones, they seem too clean for my liking. I'd hoped that just putting the correctly named .tga files into the correct folder would result in the custom sprites being used in preference to the default ones, as in DoD...

Unfortunatly, this isn't the case... I noticed that there's a corresponding VMF file to go with each of the Icons, but I dunno what I'd have to do to get them to put the new icons in...

Can anyone help me please?

I havent tried sprites in dod source yet so I cant really help you. How are the guys that customize CS:S adding their sprites? It should be the same process for CS:S as DoD:S...right? (more than likely I'm wrong)

Yeah, I'd got the riglt file and everything, I'd just forgotten to import the image into the file the Source reads from...

The Objective Icons can be got in this thread (http://www.dayofdefeat.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=54880).

Thanks for the help everyone...

ok one simple question:
what program/s are u using to edit the .vtm and the .vtf files. ?

DoD 1.3 sprites were easy to make and edit but i have no idea about dod:s. Also if anybody knows how can we change that big ugly hud sprite that will be nice.
I m willing to do changes of the crosshair and the hud sprite. I just need some info:) thanks

The Program I use is called VTFedit (http://nemesis.thewavelength.net/index.php?c=149). If you have GCFScape installed, you extract the originals and use VTFedit to extract the TGA files to edit...

I've only used it for the objective icons sofar, so I don't know how it'd fare with other stuff...

You can also browse .gcf files from within the File System tab in VTFEdit (just open the .gcf files like you would folders (press +)).

I've taken a look at the sniper scope sprites just now, and I have figured out what I need to do to get DoD1.3 Crosshairs into DoD:S, but I'm having the same problem getting transparency that I'm having with normal Crosshairs.

I can get the scopes in, but I can't get the white to go transparent... I managed to somehow get the black to go transparent, but I can't get the White to instead... If anyone has any tips on how to get this, I can start converting over 1.3 stuff if I can get their permission first...
