Noobie Question Yay!

Not so much a noobie to mapping.
I just had a couple questions that I could not get answered here.
1. Is DOD:S going to be an option through the SDK on steam upon it's release? Or is that later. If it's later, is it still going to be possible to make maps for DOD:S before then?
2. If it is possible to make maps for DOD:S before the SDK has the option for editing DOD:S, how do I get started?
I am l33t at configuring hammer for DOD 1.3. When can I start mapping for DOD:S?

I think you will have to configure it manually like the other hl2 mods but i may be wrong. Thats what i had to do with Dystopia and Battlegrounds 2, then again those are 3rd party. So I am not sure.
But I just preloaded DoD:S on my comp, but i cant find the fgd and stuff like that. Is that purposely hidden from us?

EDIT: lol, just saw a thread discussing source fgd. Sorry.

You can technically start mapping now. Best would be to use HL2DM since it uses HL2 textures, which should all be included in DoD:S's files. Since it's so close to release, there's really no point in using CS:S if you're just starting.

1. 90% sure it will be added to the SDK directly with the release (just guessing tho).
2. All mappers, who have source maps in progress are either using CS:S+HL2 or the DoD Beta (if they were included in the beta test). It shouldn't be much of a problem transfering CS:S maps to DoD:S maps later to add the specific dod source entities.
So technically you can start right now. Tuts here: http://www.hl2world.com/wiki/index.php/Category:MappingTutorials
EDIT: I always take too long to post. Bam, redundant. But you can get into the basics with CS:S now, for learning purposes.

The SDK will be updated on release day, and the profile for Dod Source will be automatic, just like CSS and HL2, because those are official games.

My map (I'm remaking dod_jadg)
I've started on HL2dm. If Valve does not include a DOD:S Section in the SDK launch options, I'll simply rip the textures from the gcf and put them in HL2dm.
The chances of me needing to do that is slim, I'm sure Valve will add the option.
