Looks like the latest Steam update deleated a few (unused) models.

These models are used in custom maps and it means the maps will crash the server:

Missing models:
bomb.mdl
bridge_cart.mdl
flo_bourderline .mdl (Note the space at the end of the name)
mattress_wreck.mdl
mawibse_lamp_01.mdl
p51.mdl
pliers.mdl
repunzel_candle.mdl
seg4_lamp1.mdl
uplant1t.mdl
uplant1_2xT.mdl
uplant3.mdl
uplant3t.mdl
x_hog.mdl

These models were standard content before the latest update but now must be considered custom models if you are to use them.

Map effected on our server:

dod_arch
dod_jocund_v4
dod_kettle
dod_zanzibar_v3

I've re-added the models to our content server so the maps will work on our server, server admins need to do the same for their servers.

Or is this just me?

I needed to add a couple of those to get kettle to work

For dod_kettle I believe it's just seg4_lamp1.mdl that is required.

Hmmm are you sure about breakout_b6? I'll have to check on our server.

I think you can get all the missing models here.

excellent thread going here.

If you are able to run dod_arch with out issues now, please let me know. For that mattter, if any other custom maps were initially broken by the steam update, but now working once you got the models back on the server, please report them here. A lot of custom map players would appreciate it.

Maybe in a couple days if we get enough reports I'll make a sticky on how to get your custom maps workking, giving credit to posters here, of course.

Thanks for all your hard work, Haircut, everyone.

izuno, arch seems to be working just fine now.

since there haven't been any more posts in a few days, I'm assuming we've found all the missing models. with that in mind, I created an installer with just the missing models in it. it will place them in the correct folder automatically.

download here (http://josh.whatsupslc.com/misc/missing_models.exe)

dod_strom_b4 needs the model mawibse_lamp_01.mdl in order for the map to work.

I did a text compare between the old set of models and the new set of models. I believe that is all of them.

Post others if you find them ... I could have missed one or two.

Thank you very much for the thread,
thought I had really lost it when setting up the map installers for Eagle League's upcoming season.
With our all custom map schedule, 16 in all, was causing a bit of a stir as to why we were missing so many models...

thanx again for the info and files to aid those of us who love your guys hard work and custom maps, our league thrives on it.

I have a problem with some of the player allied models, allied flags, and allied jeep, and some tree, brush models in dod_harbor_b2, they turned blue? Seems to be related to shadows or lighting. This happend after an update or two before this one, completly uninstalled it , fresh download reinstall, same thing?. Don't understand it, anyone have this problem?

Did that update remove those models from the gcf content on client computers? Or just from servers?

I'm wondering about this because if those models have been removed from people's computers, would that not mean they still won't be able to play those maps because they won't have those necessary"now custom content" models.

So, if players are missing those models, then just uploading the missing models to servers wouldn't be sufficient for players to run those maps.

Why not? Because players still won't have them.

I'm assuming those models are NOT listed Server's existing .res files since it would have been unnecessary for those models to be listed in them when they were standard models.

Now that they are considered "custom models" is it necessary to update all .res files to include these models so that players can download them through sv_downloadurl?

Will it be necessary to add them to the .res files listed in this thread? (http://www.dayofdefeat.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=33823&highlight=.res+files)

How do we determine which maps require one or more of those models? The models wouldn't be included in the custom map install since they would not have been needed in the install when they were standard models.

Does anyone have a list of which custom maps use which of these missing models so that .res files can be updated?

Or will we just need to include the entire list of the missing models into every maps .res file?

I guess the res files in that thread will have to be updated. That was the purpose of this thread to find out which custom maps were missing what files so that servers can update their res files so people can still download the maps and play on their servers.
