[REL] 12th-SS Panzer Division Battle of Caen

05-18-2003, 02:37 PM
I have been working on these for a long while now so I am happy to finally release it. This 12th SS set is 200% realistic. These models accurately represent the 12th SS-Panzer Division at the Battle of Caen in Normandy, 1944. All the camouflage textures are from real Waffen SS camouflage pattterns. The correct patterns are used to represent the correct type of clothing they were used on, all the gear is 100% realistic and is equipped as a 1944 SS soldier would wear his gear. There are two sets one has non-flying helmets, but different helmet textures, the others have same helmet texture but they fly off. I am just curious if you are going to use these models are you going to use the flying helmet or non-flying helmet?

The sheer amount of detail is astounding.

I like them but the faces still look a little old to be hitler youth? :p

05-18-2003, 03:04 PM
LOL yeah that is one thing I tried to do but trying to make a picture of a face look younger isn't and easy thing to do. If anyone can do it please do.

Nice work, man!

05-18-2003, 03:36 PM
This is great. I'm gonna use the flying helmets first and if I think I'm missing something I'll go to the non-flying helmets. Good work!

05-18-2003, 03:56 PM
Finally someone answers his question. Seems like nobody even bothers to read the author's notes. I'd use flying helmets, just because I like the effect in-game. Sacraficing a large bit of detail like helmets flying off for a minor cosmetic detail isn't my thing. ;)

Flammen, do you have AIM or an email where I can contact you. I have some young looking faces you might be intrested in.

Bishopzs on AIM

I was playing with the new models and it really bugged me that there was a part on the back of the k43 soldiers helmet that wasn't spraypainted and it looked really messed up so i fixed it, if your interested redownload.

05-18-2003, 04:55 PM
AWESOME DUDE! But those player's in the the pics look like they're doing synchronized pissing! LMAO! :p

05-18-2003, 06:23 PM
DL it first open it from its saved spot
then you unzip the mdl's to the Axis infantry foldier in your DOD/MODELS/PLAYER/Axis.inf
then it will ask you to overwrite say yes.

05-18-2003, 06:40 PM
crap I was gonna do this.

Well you beat me to it.

Great job :).

BTW, does he do the animations? Cuz since I downloaded these, the standard running (not sprint) looks kinda funny...

You noticed this to? AFter I compiled them and tested them out I thought they were running faster too then I compared them with the allied default models with hlmv and they looked like they were running the same so I thought it was just me. I didn't touch the animations so I am curious if anyone else notices this

I noticed...they run a little akward for some reason :\

05-18-2003, 08:59 PM
yea cool the faces got used in something great. I think ill do the brits and us tonight since im bored. Gj btw very nice :)

05-18-2003, 09:33 PM
I wanna follow up on this running issue, has anyone else encountered this with custom models (not just custom textures)

05-18-2003, 09:35 PM
haha w00t...the eggnade.

05-18-2003, 09:40 PM
Yeah I noticed that the models seem tu run "faster" but it's rather an improvement compared to the default runnin anim ;)

I'd like to know how you managed to put an eagle decal on the left sleeve witjout having it mirrored on the right arm. I'm noobish so please explain step by step.

To quote someone : OK BYE :D

05-18-2003, 10:11 PM
yes, their legs definitely move faster but for some reason, it does not look all that akward.

05-18-2003, 10:17 PM

will provide a mirror....

05-18-2003, 10:30 PM
hold that mirror for a sec im updating the models...

05-18-2003, 10:34 PM

05-18-2003, 10:46 PM
Sorry about that, uploading to my host is so slow. I updated the camo hat and bayonet texture so they look more realistic. Its just little details like this that improve a model. So if you could please reupload to DOD editing center that would be great. And if anyone is interested in a more realistic looking hat and bayonet redownload.

05-18-2003, 11:14 PM
i will re-download it, btw Flamm Check your PM.

05-18-2003, 11:27 PM
The run definatley looks a little weird.

05-19-2003, 10:06 PM
Great releases need to be on the first page.

05-20-2003, 09:55 AM
These are hot, wtg.

05-20-2003, 12:44 PM
Great work:)

05-20-2003, 11:21 PM
AWSOME! but for some reason wheni put these in it slowed down my game alot and i cant shoot well and my mouse is all screwed up?
wonder why

08-08-2003, 05:52 PM
Can I get another mirror? Doesn't work for me on either

Something in my computer is screwed up; now when I download something by clicking any .zip link, instead of a menu that says "Open, Save as, Cancel" I get a "invalid or corrupted file" error, when I know darn well the file is good. I am forced to right click and hit "save target as" to get a download link to work which is PISSING ME OFF because I cannot figure out why that started happening! But I digress- I've tried both methods with each download link and still won't let me get it. :(

*edit* nevermind, found a fileplanet link on editors model page, thanks

08-09-2003, 07:01 AM
dude can you post a mirror ? the other one doesnt work. Thats why you always keep extra mirrors...

08-09-2003, 07:07 AM
The link is down because the DoD Editing Center has moved to another host. You can find the file here now:
