Where Is It! Give It Back.....

I don't know other peoples opinions on this, but would love to hear them.
What happended to Heautau???
It was a legendary map! Sniper points everywhere, the most vicious death alleys of all the maps I've played and a good pure adrenaline rush to play with well organised teams.
In 2.0 up to 3.0 the map was perfect. Flags were in spots that you had to work together and well in order to get them back if they were taken or wish to take them if they were properly defended. The alley leading up to the axis second flag was the spawn of satan as was the allies and the final flag captures were down to pure "balls to the walls" tactics.

In 3.1, myself and about 60 people with whom I regularly play with on an Irish college LAN, we were disgusted with the changing of flag postions. Albeit the addition o f spawning closer to the centre was a good touch, but it did away with the nitty gritty hanging on by the skin of your teeth when trying to defend a flag on your own.

I ask all of you this - DO YOU ALL WANT IT BACK???
I sure as hell do and the old version at that. If any of you know where a remastered version is available or whether it is a work in progress, please let me know, this will result in a massive boost for those of us who know and love the map. It may result in my failing exams and repeating college ytears, but no matter, that just gives more time to play here!:D

If you can help me out, thank you.

Author was unable to update the map in time (I believe he is in the army). I hope that whenever he gets back, map will be updated.

Sector Effector

Most people didnt like the map due to the fact for them it was a long walk to the main action, i didnt care. I liked it gave me time to prepare. Plus it turned into a camp the last flag fest.

Yeah it did, but it was fun trying to get past it. A whole squad of guys charging down the axis hill was a great laugh, especially if you make it with just one guy! It rarely happened with me where I play, the people I play with aren't the kind to just sit there and let you come to them, we're all a bunch of Hunters (no pun intended)

Heutau was exellent as a "teamwork is required" map. I loved it and can't wait until it is redone by Sector Effector.

Well I talked to Sector Effector yesterday , he told me that he came back from Koovo 4 dasys ago and now he's workin on a dod map (not Heutau) and after that he will be fully concentrated on GL so no time I think for a remake of Heutau

Maybe Sector Effector would be so kind as to allow someone else to convert his map so it is 1.0 compatible...please?

I would like to see a remake of this map as well... Perhaps though with some breakable walls, and a sewer system ala Snowtown style... The sewer system could connect the Allied and Axis first flags to the middle flag... that way if your team gets pinned down you can at least have an alternate way out to possibly surprise the enemy... Access to the middle flag via the sewers would virtually put an end to the "last flag camp fest"

Sewer system ain't a half bad idea. It would definately get rid of the last flag stand off. I find myself thought that if all of a sudden the entire enemy team just disappears all of a sudden, then you know what they are doing, you ambush them and wade through the entire level. One single guy going throught the sewers with say an mp44 or a BAR, and catch from behind.
If destructable walls were put in, they would have to be limited, 'cos otherwise it would just get stupid.
Oe thing that might work is just having a bit of destructable scenery at certain points that when you fire a rocket it blows up some of the terrain in the way. They thing is thought that would be a little heavy on low end machines and servers.
Just saw the 500mb HL2 video and dear god I can wait to see if people make DoD for HL2, purely ;cos it would look so damn cool.

well.. the idea I had for destructable walls would be like the rubble building near the Allied 2nd flag... That building would be blocking that path until you blow up the wall.. then it opens up so you can get through... Likewise with the crawlspace near Axis 2nd flag ... Nothing major.. just a couple enhancements...

Hopefully he can remake it for 1.1? I like the sewer idea too.

I'd also like to see a remake of dod_bleakhill!
