As this has also gone up on Kustom Kettle I might as well add a public release here as well. This is the final version of dod_kettle. Lots of changes and updates were made and it's now "done" in that I'm not going to work on it anymore. Anyway, enjoy.

Should I release this in general? It is the final version.

Very close it seems from the screenies, is it a remake? The 3rd screenshot is a almost exact duplicate of saints.

Oh and a futher note, It would be good if people started specifying if it was DoD:S or not, and install notes. I'm sure the folder "dod_kettle" isn't going to help noobs install this map. User friendly please :hamster:

EDIT: Arrr my Steam hates custom maps! :( It dun go!

well if you guys dont/didnt know, dod_saints is based off the classic custom map dod_cr44. Its not exactly the same and is quite different in some areas but you can find the similarities. but, dod_kettle is an improved version of dod_cr44, trying at best to keep the same layout, but improving on quality of appearance and accepting opinions from many fine players if any map additions/changes should be made.

play all maps. check it out. and if u knew already, SOWWY!

betas for dod_kettle (especially dod_kettle_b3) has been out for a very long time.... why do people act like it's brand new and never heard of before? </confused>

Probably because I didn't release it anywhere other than on Kustom Kettle, so it sort of snuck in. Now I'm trying to get it out there. :)

But yeah, it was built off of the cr44_b3 source as a favour for Swordzkof. Gave me the mapping bug for doing updates though, after I finish up the ones I have though I'm going to start on source.

few things:

there is one mistextured spot that i found, its in the back alley by the axis side (its wood, supposed to be concrete, im guessing)

in the water the axis have to jump onto a ramp, kind of annoying but not a big deal

the vines on the axis side are climb-able allowing people to get on the rooftops - i dont think this is a good idea.. but whatever.

not much else to say, its the best version of cr44 i've seen - besides saints..(although i dont like some of the aspects of cr44 so..)

There always seems to be one persistant texture mishap on a roof edge on the axis side. Don't know why, I fix one and something else pops up. (Have to see...if there's only one issue out of the thousands of faces that ain't bad. ;))

There was really only one "big" problem with it that I can think of that I forgot and all it is is a tiny split in the roof area of the back alley on the allied side. Not sure how it got there as it used to be okay, and I think I forgot to fix it.

As for the vine it was a requested change and one I personally like, because it gives both sides a chance with the vertical gameplay. Adding a bit of vertical is important, and I didn't want to get rid of all the rooftops as that is/was the allure of the original for a lot of people. I compromised and made a select few accessable and gave the allies a chance too.

This map was more under the direction of others and I was doing it as a favour. Devastation is more my own twist so it'll be exactly what I want it to be.

Thanks for the compliments, seeing as it's a rarity from a few of you that means a lot. :)

didnt see the spot on the allied side to get on the roofs, though i looked after finding the axis one. where is it? :hamster:

There are only two really helpful Allied side ones, to get up there's a ladder in the same court as the pillar monument.

looks snazzy, and I was gonna say - cr44-ish.

Very good, and if Kleinluka says he likes it, be happy, hes a tough critic but knows good stuff when he sees it.

I'm still in search of something that will show what I'm envisioning, hopefully that'll come soon.

Yeah, I know he's quite the critic, he's either being true or yanking my chain because a few of his tex's are in there ;)

Did I miss it...but is there no access to the secondary bridge?

At any rate, played it on a full server last night...great fun and great addition to FNF DoD's maps. Thanks for the hard work, Gorbachev.

No, there's no access to the 2nd bridge. And since this is the final build there never will be. :)

I'm putting the rest of my effort into the last few remakes and such I have left. Then I'm going to hopefully start on a Source map from scratch.
