Lots of things look out of scale, the pavements the most, they need to be half as deep as they are and the road to be wider.

According to who's scale? It's built on a 16. Maybe dl it and try it GL.

I think what he's saying is that the sidewalk (or whatever) is too high compared to the road...I agree, it looks a little off. not a deal breaker, but hey, its feedback.
some of that looks a whole lot like freeze. especially pic #2. is this a remake of freeze?

Someones paying attention, good to see. Some of it's from freeze yes. No one played freeze so I scrapped it, winter maps aren't that popular, especially dark ones.
Ok in all your guys infinite wisdom :p whats the best height for sidewalks? Isn't sherman2_b5 16 grid sidewalks Travis?

It really depends on the style of map, in this case especially with the grittier style of texture a lower height is to your benefit. Personally I make sidewalks at a height of 8. If you take a quick look at my other thread on devastation you can see the new style of sidewalk/road that I'm trying out. It's actually "flat" in that the edges are 8 units up, the middle of the road is at the same height, but slopes down like a real road (rain run-off) towards the edges. It got kind of funky when you walked along it so I've clipped it and it works surprisingly well.
I like the map so far, the bridge is my favourite part. Although the sky is a bit off for the rest of the map, it is a town but they're clashing styles. I also in my mind though "scale" when I first looked at everything, but I don't know why exactly...it might just be that some of the mixes of textures are a bit funky, although I like most of the ones in the 2nd picture. I think I'm just over-escaped.

I think 8 is likely a good number for sidewalks, I have been using 16 on all my maps, except propaganda I used 8, and no one really said anything, so for simplicities sake I just kept going. As far as road width I wasn't so much looking for a scale as I was for tight gameplay, but point taken GL. Ok any suggestions on lighting/sky? I hear some complaints on it, what suggestions might you all have? BTW devastation looks good Gorby, looking forward to playing that.

lol, I actually liked the look and style of freeze so I put it on our server. the problem that most people complained about was that there was no well defined path that lead both sides to each other, and the middle flag was hidden off to the side in a building.
I like your complicated style (we run expire), but there needs to be a simple way through as well for people that are still learning the map.
...back to the topic at hand ;)

Well, the map speaks of grunge, so the sky might like something of the gold/brown range and the lighting should slightly reflect that. (The best way for lighting is to make it a greyish with a very slight hint of the colour you want, so that it doesn't have that overly blue or overly coloured feel.) So something like a faded gold or tan might suffice.
