Concerning DoD_Jagd

Shouldnt this map be a tank hunt for both sides? I mean the Axis have to blow up two Cromwells while the Allies have to recapture some documents. This doesnt seem to fit because frankly no side would waste their troopers on recapturing some documents. I propose that this map have identical objectives for both teams. For example would it not do better for the Allies if they too had to destroy a Tiger tank? Considering that in the map info it says that this map takes place in Villers Bocage (or something) would it not be better to have a real tank hunt for both teams?

nah,the gameplay is perfect at the moment, perfectly even and stuff. Its like 2 maps in 1 :)
It would be boring to have the same objective for both teams.

I agree. The map has the best objectives of any of the Dod v1.0 maps.
It's like the good old dod_seg3 map objectives.

the point is, that the documents contain secret information about the british assault on Caen (the map is set shortly before that event). So of course the brits don't want the germans to get their important plans and send a squad to recover the docs.
I really like how the map plays - especially on big servers (18 players and more). It seems to be very even for both sides, and both of them have to be careful, and a) guard their own side and b) still have enough people to finish the objectives. It's tricky but fun fun fun :D

if the documents were captured by the germans, thousands of british soldiers might die, surely sending in a squad is worth it?
now, on the other hand, who would send in their soldiers to blow up 2 immobile tanks which can't shoot? :P

Heh it would prove more interesting in all maps if tanks were scripted and moving around... just imagine the Tiger in Merderet moving along the road and the bridge blasting the buildings while us troopers try to knock it out with bazookas and the Axis team has to cover the tank... would be kind of interesting.
Also ive been thinking... erm ill update this post later.

seeing as the docs are right outside the german start point, why dont they just grap the docs and leg it :D

This map is excellant because unlike the vast majority of map you are doing something more realistic instead of capturing flags.
Also the wide open streets and tall buildings are a change.
Although it is somtime nigh on impossible to complete the objectives without some lucky fluke.

well technically capture the flags is just as realistic...they're just there to represent occupation of an area...those maps just aren't objective maps, that's all.

jagd is one of dod 1.0 maps. It does not lag. Its fair. good sniping and protecting spots. hell just yesterday i was a gunner i killed 5 people rushing out the door.

I love Jagd! Its a great map.
My only wish is to see it revised so that the documents CANNOT be returned just by an axis touching them. The Germans win this map much more often than the Brits. Its a bit harder to get those docs, AND return w/ them vs. destroying 2 stationary tanks.

hell no, axis win as often as brittish do! getting the docus is easy, blowing up the tanks that are next to their spawn is a lot more difficult because you have a rocket weapon and the brittish can get out the spawn every second

What i ment by caputure the flag maps being less realistic is that although the capturing of area is realistic the flags in each are can detract a little from the overall atmosphere of the map
its equel.
it all depands on how willing you are to work with your team
and get the job done :)
thx for the comments :)

Jagd is my Fav map in v1.0, its good to have something to do instead of capturing flags.
I've found capturing the Documents is more of a one man sneaky job on the servers I play on, where as going for the tanks is more of a group thing as the Rocket launcher person needs the cover of his team to get those tanks.
