sorry for the frequent updates, trying to fix all possible errors ASAP.
fixes/changes for beta 2:
- removed windows overlooking water (really had no use, too low for snipers, and not much viewable area for any of them).
- removed hole in wall on allied side of bridge.
- added sniper loft on axis and allied sides of bridge.
- re-textured and slightly re-worked allied sniper building
- changed design of buildings leading from water to allied and axis areas.
- added clipping in areas
- removed open building on allied side after bridge
- changed spawning positions for axis

changes/fixes for beta 3:
- texture fixes
- added exploding cow
- added exploding chicken
- moved axis first flag further from spawn
- moved allied first flag further from spawn

Woot!
Another version to waypoint... good one :)
Just got home...day off tomorrow... 15 Corona beers left and a nice map to drive my bots nuts.
Heaven, now if someone can get this online.... :)
Edit: some hours latter now :)
I still love it... great job, the new windows and the removal of the others were a good choice.
Want some waypoints? ...

you're gonna hate me for all these updates INsane_dod :D but the b2 waypoints should be the same for b3, dunno what you have to change, if anything. (all brushes are the same).

Heh... changing them was easy just shifted a few waypoints around :)
You can load other versions in the console using a command... adjust them and press save...
"waypoint load dod_strom_b2.wps"
Then adjust...save, bingo... a new set with the right map name, dod_strom_b3.wps.

Hey siron,
Just wanted to say thanks for the map. We play it on our server and players seem to like it. However, I am most likely not going to put the latest update on the server though and here is my reason. While most of us love the exploding cows and chickens we run a FF on server and try to keep players from randomly firing in and around spawn so that others aren't accidently team wounded before they get a chance to obliterate the enemy. These exploding animals are just too tempting to shoot and mabye should be placed a little further from the spawn areas, just my opinion.
I'm not trying to tell you how to make maps by any means and I don't know how others feel about this. Just food for thought.
Thanks again for the map,
JCC

Although I have to admit, I haven't played the latest version on a full server, I know the windows became very useful before. They were the right height for shooting people and not becoming a severe camping spot. The hole in the wall on the allies side of the bridge was a nice as well. Being an axis and firing across the water at the allies approaching the bridge was one of my favorite tactics.
The new sniper windows are a nice touch, but I'll have to wait to see how well they play, and if they can replace the original windows that are now gone.
The axis first flag should be moved a little bit closer to spawn as the allies can just run through the building and cap it. It also takes the fun out of jumping out that second story window coming from the axis second and surprising the axis guarding there. The new route through the buildings to the water is more like a maze, and seems a little redundant. The original route gave the buildings more atmosphere in my opinion, more realistic.
Overall, this is a great map. I know on the servers I play at regularly, it has become one of the favorites.

thanks for your ideas, at present this map is getting totally reworked (new routes, new flag positions, the middle is bigger, some of the streets have been widened, etc)

any news?
Oh, gimme a buzz if you need some assistance in the art dept. Ive got 10 ga-gillion Hl1 textures sitting around that will never be used by me again, including some dod_flash variants that would suit your map well.

Ill get around to that soon. I might as well.
I used to be rather greedy with the stuff I worked on considering the amount of time and effort Ive put into it. But now that source is out, I'll release everything I have sitting around, which is up in the 100's of MB's and taking enormous amounts of disk space.
