Watch out with Boolean, if not used properly, it can skyrocket your triangle count. If it's only something little you need to remove, use the cut tool.

Very true, be especially careful with broken edges and vertices as well. It is probably best to use an STL check on the area you have booleaned right afterwards. It will tell you if you have any isolated or broken edges, and will make such things much easier to fix. Also make sure to check for added extra vertices boolean might add that you may not need. Deleting them will generally clean up the model and make skinmeshing a lot easier.
