[WIP] dod_frachtschiff

Hi.
I show you here my mapping project "dod_frachtschiff".
(frachtschiff = cargoship)

The sreenshots are not up to date (2 days old).

The brushworks and the texturing is nearly completet.
The Textures are 95% made by myself, because there
are no existing textures for submarines or shipt.
Painted in Photoshop 6, or raytrayced in a 3D programm.
(look the walls in the sub)

The Problem is, than i can make textures and brushworks,
but iŽam a totally noob at such things like entities :(
I tried it for myself, but i failed (its not my thing).
So i search for anyone with some expirience to do this job.

Exactly to do this:
look that i entered the right values at the doors, entities ...
(func_conveyor)
And put the entities in for the flags, playerspawns and this things.
(which saves ur nick or logo a place in the map *gg*)


IŽam interested in further teamwork too.
So if U do the entities at my map, iŽll help u making textures
for yours.

My next map is much more simple - a isle that looks like this
ones at "far cry" (caribean dod feeling *gg*)

Thats because iŽam a very "unique freak" ;) ;) ;)

I solved the problems with the placing of the weapons.
(wrong FGD file)
That should be deleted from the entities "to do" list.

Well, the map is cool and such but, why is this on the MSA forum? :confused:

Shouldn't this be on the mapping forum instead?

That happens when your right eye is faster then the left.

Its the same like ur left arm is faster then the right.
Then uŽll put the food inside your mouth before the knife
in ur right hand got a chance to cut it.
People with this problem are called "vegetarian",
bacause they canŽt eat meat - in cause theyre not able to
cut the meat with the knife in the slower right hand.

I am sure there is a map out there you can take some textures from for the sub ;p

some mod out there has to have one, the odds say so...

Cool idea!

G/L w/ the project.

A very small piece of advice... if you actually want your map played on servers pick a name that is "english" friendly. Meaning it is short and easy to spell remember.

Awesome concept. It reminds me of an original MOH map from back in the day. I've actually been hoping to see more naval-themed maps like this. A port city can be milked for a ton of different themes before it gets tired.

The Sub will get opensource,
so anyone can download them and make a map around :D
Perhaps the Ship too - but i think other users wont know
what to do with it :cool:

How is your experience at entities ?
Some things are a little bit hard to do (the conveyor entity).

the func_conveyor is kinda strange.

it seems to move in the direction the texure has been rotated...if i remember correctly.

if you want to figure out the entities you just have to do lots and lots and lots and lots of trial and error....

and then sometimes they just aren't going to work no matter what.

but generally if you keep it simple it's ok..just when you try to do rediculous stuff.
