i did a search but i didn't find anything of help.

how do i go into third person while still alive? i'd like to take some screen shots at some new skins and stuff.

i assume you still have to type map dod_caen(or whatever map) in the console so you can't do it in lan and internet games. thats fine, after all it would give you an unfair advantage. but i don't remember what to type in my console to actually get the third person view.

also, once im in third person, whats the command to get the perspective right behind the player (as opposed to the side)?

yeah i know it doesn't work on servers. i just want to do this for sceenshot purposes.

hmm, i just tried it and it doesn't work.


i went into console in the game menu. i typed map dod_glider

once the map loaded, i typed sv_cheats 1 in the console. it said sv_cheats changed to 1

so then i typed thirdperson in the console and nothing happened. it didn't say anything in the console like unknown command or anything like that.

did i do something wrong?

it works, but not for DoD or CS anymore its been hardcoded so it wont work :)
it used to be as you connected u typed /thirdperson and rpessed enter, but its been coded so u cant do it as technicaly it waas classed as "cheating" even tho it gave u a MAJOR disadvantage :)

WOOHOO!!!! :D i thought theyd hardcoded it this time around!! YIPPEE!!! :D 3rd person's great fun :) just dont tell anyone u use it or ull get called a "H4Xorzezeorzez!" ;) cus it does give u an advantage looking round corners


you'll need to bind something like bind "p" "+camyawright" so u can move the camera.

let me just clarify myself again i am NOT trying to do this on internet server or LAN games i just want to take some screenshots and look at my new skins on a self-loaded game.

well ive got a script for PVK that allows me to set it to 3rd person every time it loads, imsure it could be converted to DOD gimmie a sec.......

TRY....... opening your autoexec.cfg in you sierra\half-life\dod\ folder and adding

thirdperson


to the bottom of it. tell me if that works cus thats whats in my PVK autoexec.cfg

To get better screenshots, get sturmbot and create a lan game. join the spectators side and add the number of bots youd like. Give em a minute or so to get spread out and moving, then hit #6 (pause) in the sutrmbot menu. Now all the bots are paused and youre free to fly around and take as many SS's as youd like.

dances, i just go it to work. though strangely i got the bug where the player model doesn't have any textures.

also, i forgot that its always bound to that one axis player model despite what class or team you choose. thanks anyway though.
