Large open source map Ideas

Now that we can make huge maps in source there are ways we can make a map that we could never have made before.

like there could be a map with a german compound in the middle and little out posts in about 50 yard radius's from it. In the first part the germans had to defend the outposts when the allies take the outposts they will spawn around one of them. there objective then would be to take the compound. the germans can take back the outposts if they do so the allied attack is repeled and the germans win if the allies take the compound they win?

I think in mapping people should exspand there ideas of how to make a dod map. In my personal opinion there should be more realistic WW2 fighting like stealing plans from a Mansion but there would be a area around it so you could sneak around the back and go in thru the basment

Yeah but don't forget what DoD is all about. More small area fighting than BF1942 scale. But yeah it would be cool not to have to worry about VIS blocking all the time.

Oh gimme a break random, its perfectly possible to have large outdoor maps for hl2. You just have to do it right, like ANY map.

I think the size of hurtgen for cod is probably about as large as you'd want to go though for dod. /looks for map ideas thread....

You can do large maps in HL1, nobody does them because they suck gameplay wise.

Kar's just pick of people at distance and unless you have the Brits coming the otherway you don't get anywhere near the objective. The German MG's are designed for pouring large amount of fire down range, your not getting past them.

Also, just because its a new engine doesn't mean you can do everything you wanted. Huge maps work well in SP HL2, HL2 MP...have you seen any huge open maps yet?
