Slings

It would be so cool if the DoD team added slings (straps) to the guns again..like in beta versions....maybe when they redo, IF, they redo the weapon models....its something so small that just makes the game experience, at least for me, seem so much more realistic.

Don't quote me, But I think I remember an interview or some post in which someone explained that it was highly unlikely because animating the slings is a long process that is not mandatory to the models or mod. (aka, it's just extra eye candy)

Yeah, i'm sure it does....well, i don't mind if they're not animated...i should prolly just learn to add them myself.

why not use the 3.1 models in dod 1.3 retail?

Animation differences (like the time for the reload) plus 1.3 retail has the buttsmack (Garand) that 1.3 doesn't have. Also some animations may have been renamed, which would cause animation problems. I know that the Kar fits in 1.3 however, I tried it myself and it worked almost flawlessly. I can't comment on the rest of the guns.

there are more than a couple models that have a strap on the models that work right now. I have one, and know there are more. searching will bring results

Animating slings wouldn't be as hard as it may seem at first, most decent animation packages have processes for simplifying complex animations using so many joints. A decent animator would have no trouble with it at all.
