I dont quite understand your statements, are you saying:
1. You want a new set of textures like CoD's mp_carentan
or
2. You want the actual textures from CoD converted to work with HL2.

One ... as two would, as jaboo224 said, be illegal.

illegal if you sold it, or illegal if you did it at all? There have been alot of sketchy rips throughout the history of this mod, and alot of them had to be removed when the game went retail. Sounds have been ripped from Saving Private Ryan and Band of Brothers for custom content over and over.

thats true, however its still probably best not to step on any toes ;)
I am aware the intellectual property rights cover things you have produced and are used for profit by someone else

You could do it, but that would mean the map would never be able to get any real publicity or condonement in its current state.

Yes Colonel Forbin suff is always ripped off and used for whatever someone thinks they can use it for.
Like copyrighted software that someone didn't pay for but installed and uses and any copyrighted music someone might download without paying for, it's still illegal.
Remeber Valve stating that no CZ content could be used, not even in another Half-Life Mod. I wonder if that's still the case?

well eitherway ive changed my stance from a straigh conversion to a production of SIMILAR textures, not precicely the same but similar in design as i really think dod has always lacked textures so good.

If you have CoD, you've paid for it. If you distribute the map, only people who also own CoD can legally play it, otherwise they're getting the textures that other people have paid for as part of CoD. That'd be even more important if, like with one of my maps for Call of Duty, a magazine wants to put it on one of their discs. I never used any custom stuff in that map at all anyway, but if I had used something from another game, the magazine would be charging people for those things which is even more illegal. Then again I've never heard of any magazines putting DoD maps on their discs.
But it never stopped me. I made a few custom textures for Call of Duty using bits of Moh:aa textures. I just used a plaster texture to make a window texture from or whatever, I never just plain stole anything from the game. With some of my custom models for CoD, I used textures from SoFII, the only one I can remember is a plywood texture that was just used on one piece of a rowing boat. Even if anyone noticed you'd 'stole' the textures, I doubt anyone would be fussed much over it. As long as you don't just copy and paste textures from another game into dod:s.
