I'm currently busy with a new map for DoD and I would like someone to make me a transparant texture since I suck at it. :(

I think I could best explain my desires through the following screenshot I made out of Hammer:

The texture should be about 64 x 64 or 128 x 128.

I hope someone's up to the task. :) If I release the map, you will be added to the credits. Thanks in advance!

Thanks for your efforts but I ran into the same problem I had with my own made texture: I can't get it transparant. :(

After altering the name in the .wad to '{snowfade' (instead of 'snowfade') it still wouldn't work.
That was the reason of my request to be honest.

So, if anyone could tell me how to create my own transparant texture...

Anyway, your efforts are very much appreciated PanFrie. :)

Thanks ;)

you dont need a transparent texture, you just need a texture that blends one from the other.

Take your snow, and paste a snow texture layer over the carpet in the image editor. Then, slowly start to delete the snow to reveal the carpet. Then, reduce your eraser opacity to blend it in gradually.

^^ yes, use the feather feature in photoshop to "blend" a snow texture to that certain carpet texture and shove it back into the wad :|

a good first try but it needs work SSG. May want to update it...

The borders are completely square and unnatural and it looks as if you only used a 100% opacity brush to do so. Try using a spraypaint type brush and getting rid of the borders and feathering it, gradually increasing or decreasing the opacity of the brush.

Originally this thread was posted as a request, then I got help and then the subject changed a few degrees. Still it began as a request so I guess not Trp. Jed. :kitty:

Well its still technically a mapping thing than Models, Sprites and Animation. Theres a lof of texture guys in mapping who would know better the best technique for achieving what your after.

True. It doesn't make a whole lot of difference for me, I got what I want. :)

But I think you're right. :)
