I need help I can't get the transparent textures to work in game.
I use Photoshop 6.0 and made the areas of the textures I wanted transparent blue..
RGB color
0
0
255

Im told to use that one.

But i get this as a result:

How do i make it transparent?

I know this is a counter-strike model but im tryin to do this in DoD as well, but it doesn't work.

You dont just make it blue, in fact, blue doesnt have anything to do with it - its the very last colour in your 256 colour palette that becomes transparent.

It has to be 8bit (256 colors).

Open the color palette. Assign a random color to the last slot (bottom right) and ASSIGN THAT COLOR to the area you want transparent in game. Make sure the area is ONLY filled by that exact color.

I think i have to remake the model... but i can't do things like that. Im learning skining not modeling.

no messing with the model at all. Just take the skin that has that blue (0000FF) and open it in photoshop.

Make sure it is "Index" (hit Alt-I-M-I)

Open the color table (hit Alt-I-M-T)

make sure the 256th color is the same color as what is needed to be transparent (in your case, use 0,0,255 ; make sure it is the lower right corner's color) (ps. it can be any color you like, even black or purple)

if you changes anything, resave, if all this was good but still showing blue:

try using trp.Jed's HLMV

open the BMP in the "textures" tab

click the "Transparent" box

press the "Export Texture" button and save it as the BMP.

If all of this doesnt work, goto the requests section of the MSA forum and ask someone to do it for you ;)

This transparency question should be stickied with an appropriate tuturial like SSG's in his sig. If had a nickel for everytime someone asked me how to do this I'd retire.

What did you do that made this work? Let people know so they will learn from those that went before them.
