noob problem once again. I went to compile my one room map, and according to the log file, it can't find my .wad files. problem is, they are right where it said they weren't.

Error: Could not open wad file \sierra\half-life\dod\hlbasics.wad

Error: Could not open wad file \sierra\half-life\dod\dod_flash.wad

am I not setting some parameter right or something? thanks again for the help

Hmm I was having this problem. And I couldn't find the exact solution...

I just re-setup all my directories from the www.mardymouse.co.uk tutorial and it went away. So just redo all the file paths and hopefully it will go away.

I belive you have files split between Drives. Put all files on one drive and see.

For dod,
In order for the wad file to be opened by dod it needs to be in the dod folder, it will not look in seirra/half-life blah blah, this is steam, so it looks in steam/steamapps/you@emaildotcom/day of defeat/dod try that, Haircut I am amazed you didn't see that

No, it still uses the root. I have all my wads in a "SIERRA\Half-Life\dod" folder that are used with Hammer. I had the same problem before, and it was caused by having the .map and the .wads on seperate drives.

hmmm, you may be onto something there. I did set up my sierra/half-life/dod folders on a different drive than hammer. I'll try putting everything on the same drive and see what happens. thanks.

gorbachev, you were right. putting everything on the same drive fixed the problem. as near as I can tell, the zoner compiler does not take the drive letter when it gets the paths for your .wad files from hammer. that is the reason it won't work on a different drive. seems like a bug that should be fixed. thanks for the help.

lol ... it was me that said that in my origanal post

(4THIDUSA) SSG, it don't matter where the files are, as long and the dod and valve folders are referenced correctly.

I have all my mapping folders in a standaloane Dedicated Server folder called AServer.

This has always been the case, think of all the old maps that still work in dod, I thought you whould have know that ;)

Look at the error he posted

Error: Could not open wad file \sierra\half-life\dod\hlbasics.wad

No Drive letter, that's the give away.

It's simply the bug in MAP exporter in Hammer, he does not add driver letters to paths of WAD files.

I have this problem when I stop a compile before it has finished. If I rename the .map, I wont have any problems.
