finding coordinates

I am trying to move some flags around on an existing map, but I can't seem to find the coordinates I need.

I read somewhere to set sv_cheats to 1, then just hit status and it will give you your current coordinates. the problem is, that it always gives me the same coordinates, no matter where I am. is there another way to do this? thanks again guys.

I don't see why you'd need to do this 'in game'...

If you know the location you want, just locate it in hammer. Move the object to there...

In Hammer the co-ordinates are shown in a little status bar at the bottom...

Yes but if you have the map in hammer you can see around. You don't need coords...

ok, to be a little more specific, I am editting a .bsp. I don't have the original map file, so I am using RipEnt to get the entity file out, not using hammer. is there a way to load a .bsp into hammer? other than that I need a way to find coordinates in game.

There is a way to do this. I'm afraid I don't know how to do it. Perhaps searching for 'decompiling bsp' or something like that...?
