I am a straight up noob with this stuff, so bear with me. I have heard that there is a way to change from allies to british in an existing map, but I can't find any info on how to do it. can anyone help? thanks in advance. (sorry if this is in the wrong forum)

You need to place a info_doddetect in you map and edit one of the entity attributes, detect_allies_country

He's talking about existing maps...so you're looking for RipEnt. You'll need to extract the entity data, update or insert the info_doddetect entity with the proper flag for detect_allies_country and then import it back into the .bsp that will be running on your server (it's not needed for the clients)
