hey guys

okay,i aint gonna go on one again but im just wondering if anyone else has encountered the problem i have just encountered, concerning the hlbasics.wad.

ive just finished the map i was doing and when i went to run it,the game would stop loading and return to windows with the message: fatal error-could not load hlbasics.wad

I have never seen this before as i have done a couple of maps now and this has never happened before.

I extracted the hlbasics.wad using gcfscape and popped it in my dod folder and this sorted the problem, but ive never had to do this before.

could anyone enlighten me as to what has happened?its not a huge problem but when i want to send my maps on to other people,i have to zip a hlbasics.wad with them.....ive never had to do this before.

Anyways, hope someone can help or explain. Many thanks

did you point hammer to an hlbasics.wad that was not in your dod folder?

okay, this is a little hard to actually explain so ill just tell you how i get my mappin up and going.

1:installed half life, updated it and installed dod v1.0
2:installed steam and got my half life and dod files converted to the steam platform.

3:used gcfscape to extract models, sounds, sprites, gfx and map wad files plus the hlbasics.wad
4:put all of above into the original dod 1.0 folder and overwrote the files.
5:set up hammer,using these wads.

Now ive done this before and i had no problems with it saying it could not load the hlbasics.wad but i had to reinstall windows last week.would i be best just unistalling hammer and starting again?its not a big problem,as i say...im just a little puzzled...and to be honest,id rather not have this problem....so any help would be hugely appreciated...many thanks

What I am asking is, did you point hammer to an hlbasics.wad that was not in your day of defeat/dod folder?
