its just a default model used for class selection.

There is a "trick" in the game so that you can spawn with that as your model.

Its just a placeholder - i.e its used internally when the engine needs to show a player model of an unspecified class or to draw attention to something in particular.

If you try to use thirperson view without developer mode set you'll see the same thing.

o.O you can use third person? I remember being able to use thirdperson in the early 1.6 CS betas..but never in DoD...command..and which dev mode do you need to see texture?

Doesn't that version only work when you make a server?

I know the command to "glitch" or fudge it so you can be in third person while connected to any server. However I beleive this to more of an exploit than anything, seeing how the advantages of being able to zoom behind, around, and infront of your character's origin seems like a hack, lol.

But you cant aim. And you'll have difficulty navigating because the camera is at your side in third person view.

You can rotate and postion it though with
cam_idealdist and cam_idealyaw.
