I downloaded a map called dod_5points there are a lot of purple/black checkerboard textures on this map. I copied all the .WAD files listed from within the .BSP into my "dod" folder and the textures still show as missing.
Is there a way to locate these textures, because this map looks really nice and I would love to play it. Please let me know of any ideas. Thanks.

Find a program called wintextract, it will list all the textures and whether they are included in the BSP or not.
The list of textures usually follows the list of wads produced by ResGen.
Isn't there an ingame developer command that shows the texture you are pointing at?

I've placed all the .WAD files in my "dod" folder that were listing in the BSP file and there are still black/purple checkerboards.
Any ideas? I'm thinking maybe a newer built-in WAD with the same name of an older WAD from a beta version of DOD is missing some textures it used to have? Other than that I'm at a loss.

I got this same thing when I installed my old version of glider with the new steam version of glider...the glider was a purple and black just like your roof tops.
I have seen the map 5 points on a few download sites and if you look very closely at the screen shots...you can see the checkers there too...
I`m wondering if they left them out totally...since the screen shots show the same thing (from schlex or Kustom Kettles even dod editing center) shows the checkers in their screen shots

I've got it ...
you need the wads from the old version on the dod maps. (V1, like retail verssion... I think)
The wads have more textures in them. The dev team must have reduced the textures in the wads at some point.

Haircut, I figured that might be the problem, but I was worried about overriding the default .WAD that come with the current version.
What if there are NEW textures in the current WADs then stock maps might have those checkerboards.
Do you think it would be a reasonable thing to do for me to create a new WAD with the missing textures and manually add the WAD into the .BSP file via notepad.exe?

yep ... had the same thought but I didn't know if you wanted to do that.
You will have to find out what textures the map uses compare old wads with new wads to see what has changed and make a new wad for the missing textures and add it to the list.

Looks like it's the old dod_glider.wad that has the missing textures.
You need to copy all the missing textures to a new wad and edit the BSP to also point to this wad.
