u can tell me a lot but this is for sure not ur first model. maybe the first u show off or ur first weapon model but im pretty sure that u knew how to use a model program befor u did that :).

hm poly wastage...and u tired to save on wrong spots...the shape of the body is way too boxy.

No it really is my first, I certantly have no reason to lie - I just have a good (RL) friend teaching me how to do this so I'm not dependant on tutorials.

Thanks for your comments guys, I'm going to be trying to clean it all up now and do the top bit.

Wow... that is the most amazing first model I've ever seen. Possible CS:S or future DoD:S gun?

Post a screenshot it with edged polys so we can see the construction. Gives some idea of where polies can come off.

I'm pretty sure they will be coming off almost everywhere, I'll post a pic with edged polys when I next have time to work on it :(

Come on guys, believe me, it is my first model. It is a lot easier when you have someone looking over your shoulder and talking you through the truicky bits.

4000 polys (http://robin.shatteredvision.co.uk/render2.gif)

Still a lot of places to kill uneeded polys, need to fix the holes at the end of the barrel and a couple of bits to add.

4000? thats alot higher than the norm for dod models WITH sleeves.

can we see one with edged faces please gen because from what i can see from that render is that the cylinders are 18 sided which is totally unnessasary in occations such as this one.

I wasn't aiming for the Half-Life engine, although I might also make a Garand version which would be lower poly.

Thx for the advice, next time I'll have an edged faces screenshot and it will be more complete (+ lower poly :kitty: ).
