Thanks, and I will. Just that I suck at smoothing because im new to modelling.. :(

But I think the foregrip must be done better, it just sucks. :(

Love the way this baby is shaping up. Keep up the work.

Oh, and PLEASE don't add stupid little features like the carry handle and genourmous bipods. The carry handle just gets in the way, and some models make the bipod so big, it just takes all the focus up.

Sproily
12-04-2004, 10:51 AM
Thanks! I wont add bipod or the handle, dont worry :P

Disciple

No no no no.... have the bipod, just don't make it massive.

Hinkle

Nah, leave the bipod off. There are plenty of bipodded (sic?) BARs already, and I don't recall ever seeing a model of a bipodless BAR with a hooded sight. Looking great though!

Disciple

Or he could just make one with and without the bipod.

Splendid. My only crit would be, or question for this matter, but shouldn't the bolt be on the opposite side?

Sproily
12-05-2004, 03:27 AM
:) Oh yes, I mirrored the model to get the lighting, if I had it on the right side the whole model would be completely black. I will mirror it back when done. Thanks Splinter.

Disciple

And a BIPOD.

Bipod-less B.A.R.'s just don't fit in DoD.

Sproily
12-05-2004, 07:30 AM
if any requests, please make them now.
I will add: Strap.

It will be bipodless... sorry might modify later on.

It looks good but the proportions seem out

the main bit seems too big, and boxy but i cant really tell. The magasine looks too narrow too.

How about upping the poly count a bit overall but mainly on the bit you pull back on the reload (charging handle? :S )

Disciple

Make the stock meld better into the rest of the gun. Smooth out some parts to make them look more real. Add a bipod for me. Have Brut or Splinter skin it.

Good, no bipod.

I'll have your babies if you add an animated sling.

I love the length of barrel though. Seems to add power. Magazine looks good in my eyes...
And yes, higher polycounts, and animated slings :D

BTW no, my edit button isn't working :(

Sproily

I'd thought you wanted me to lower the polycount :S
Well, its only 1200 or something right now, but I cant really find places where to add polies... :S

I already said Im no good at smoothing :S so the melding thing is pretty bad for me

Well, Im happy with it and I thought of giving it for skinning, if anybody wants.. dont know. Just that I need an exporter from 3DS Max to ms3d. I tried exporting to .3ds files but it came out a mess, anybody?

Sproily

Sorry for triple post :( :(

I have been able to make it an MS3D, this zip contains the groupped and ungroupped versions, ungroupped because when I tried exporting it groupped, all the groups had lost co-ordinates so I had to re co-ordinate them, its just to be sure there.

ZIP (~82kb):

thank you expesports!

It's called the edit button. Use it wisely.

But bipod-less B.A.R.'s are stupid in DoD. The deploy animation looks stupid and the gun just looks wrong deployed.

The deploy animation looks stupid and the gun just looks wrong deployed. i prefer one without a bipod since i'm used to the older versions of dod. also, if he gets a decent animator(which this place is full of) the animation will look fine. i'm glad it has no bipod. just because the dev team added a bipod on it doesn't mean one without one wouldn't fit

would it be possible to animate the left arm to sorta "prop up" the gun (elbow on ground, forarm errect) to use as the bipod animation, rather than actually putting a bipod on?

Also, when I first started playing dod, the BAR didn't have a bipod, and there was no such feature as "deploy" lol.

Actually I was thinking about this same thing at work yesterday. That's the best animation for it that I could think of.

When are you going to give up *****ing about multiple posts? It's his thread he can double or triple post all he wants, and no bipodless bars dont look stupid, most bipods on customs are terrible and don't look good at all
