Ok, so the situation is that you have a map, and the light_environment lighting works?, but when you use lights indoor, it doesnt work?

Well first, make sure you arent putting another light_environment inside for lighting ;) After you check that out, what kind of light are you using and what are its properties?

okay...for instance ive put a light entity in the allies spawn:
name:allied_spawn
brightness:192 192 192 200

i also put a env_sprite over it
name:allied_spawn
render mode:additive
renderfx:constant glow
fxamount:255
and an info_null with the same name

The weird thing is the spotlight appears on the floor thanks to the info_null but the light doesnt show nor does the env_sprite.i cant figure this out,as this has worked on previous maps ive worked on....thanks for the reply btw;)

Im not taking sides, but whats the point of arguing over grammar. Its easily understandable in the first place.

Back onto topic to help this guy.

Not sure what this can do, but just first, remove the sprite and change the light to an light_spot and see if there is any change. If you get a light source from that, then just reply about it and we can go from there. The point of this is just to test out the different entity of light.

Also, in this specific map, do you have any other indoor lights that work? Maybe if what I said above doesnt work, copy and paste an existing and working light entity.

Take a few screenshots. Maybe we are missing something, and also post your log like someone said above. Anything can help.

EDIT - I just fully read the last post by Undertaker. Yah, that wasnt right. Doesnt sound 30ish, and if so, serenity now...

I still don't know what light entity he's been trying to use?

Standard entity for indoor use could be:

http://collective.valve-erc.com/index.php?ent=light

http://collective.valve-erc.com/index.php?ent=light_spot

I've never used a info_null with a light before.

Firstly, it's not easily understandable. I had to read the post twice just to understand it properly. Whats more it's difficult to identify the problems when you come back to the post.

Then there's just basic internet 'manners'. If you can't be bothered to punctuate and spell your post properly why should people be bothered to reply?

If you wrote an e-mail like that to some support staff (actually anyone) they're more than likely to just ignore it.

I agree that if you are annoyed by the grammar of a post you should just not reply, instead of pointing it out.

Just to be pedantic it's:
I'm not taking sides, but what's the point of arguing over grammar? It's easily understandable in the first place.
:p
Although small errors like this are fine, when it makes the post hard to understand it does matter.
