My map is almost done, but i ran into some trouble. if i compile the map it won't work. it crashes after steam has loaded 2 of the yellow bars of the status bar and then ctd.

i am working on a small area, the rest works fine. but whenever i add some new brushes to this area and compile then it won't work. below you can see two pictures. one with some more brushes...this is the part of the map which causes it to crash. on the other one it's ok and runs fine.

there are no error logs. it compiles fine and when the game crash there are no logs with information that could help.

some additional information:

solids: 1786
faces: 10648
point entities: 187
solid entities: 172
unique textures: 93
texture memory: 8.27mb and 8 wads used with -nowadtextures and 3.97mb textures.

vis matrix: over 200mb
i didn't add additional textures so i think that is not a problem.

Edit: Solved it myself by using the latest zhlt...

The map is almost done..maybe 5-6 percent missing and its playable and ready to be tested.

I had a tree model in a map and it crashed when I tried to play because it was sticking out of the skybox.

I would double check that all your models are in the playable area.

all the models are within the map.
thanks though ;)

i have no idea why the compilers made the map unplayable. i used zhlt 2.5.3 p17 but whenever i reached a certain number of brushes it would not let me play the map. the very same map would work being compiled with zhlt beta 3.0.0

1) You could post compile log.

2) Are you sure that there is nothing in
....\day of defeat\errorlogs folder ?

Error:Failed to load dialog file Resource/UI/ClassMenu.res

Function trace:
CL_ParseClientdata()

that's what the error log says. but there's no hint on a bug in my map. since i've fixed it anyway i won't bother about it any more ;)

Use -chart on your compile logs...sometimes you'll be over or near limits and you don't know it.

that's worth a try, thanks.
