Texture question...

Just wanted some feed back on this texture for the ryan map,
caus after havin a look at the source tools,
it looks like my textures are not big enough...

Texture is 3072x1024 when all the parts are collected,
but i'm thinking about the door windows sizes.

Means I have to make the whole thing again....:(
What do you think? *unshure now*

Btw way I have been informed that the french spelling on the
suze logo is incorect and I will fix that later.

Cant help ya but, The textures are nice, I take it you redid the old versions? some things look diif.



And id tile that water mark of yours, im sure someone could make use of those textures without a problem the way they are now.

No the textures are handmade from scratch, and I have followed the ref pics posted above.

Yeah but tiling the watermarks makes it difficult to see the image.
I think I would recognise any part of that texture if it where to
end up somewhere else, I've been staring at it for some weeks now..

I don't quite understand the question. You are saying your textures aren't big enough?

from what i can see the buildings are all 512s, which is absolutely fine.

Yeah I know the sizes should be right but when I had a look at
the source texes most of them looked like they where close up.
Like just a little higher than a normal door size if you know what I mean...
So they would have better resolution when looking up close.
I'm not good at exlpaining this i know...

if you mean the sharpness of them, thats probably a combination of specular and normal mapping which can be helpful to underline details and height differences

Ok,
but I was realy thinking that on my 512's you could allmost fit
2 floors high building, like with doors and windows down and up. But on source you can almost just fit 1.

So that would make the source tex more detailed.
(wish I had a source image to show what I mean)

Well if you did that they'd have the same amount of detail as a 256 and I don't think you'd want that, right ? :D

The point is to use the additional pixels that you can work with now to add more detail.

HOly mother spine, i didnt see this one yet !! wow gj. Im gonna have to send the 512's i made ur way for touch ups when u have time. as for the scale, i know that the bldg he made is using the front texture at 75% or 3/4 scale of the texture from the map rmf. spelling is a quite minor detail but klein is right on it.
