Good news about interaction with objects in Source!

Those who already played CS:Source have probably realized how disappoiting the interaction with physics is. Mainly:

1. You get pushed away when you walk near stuff.
2. You really can't move stuff around (it barely moves and you get pushed back).
3. You can't stand on stuff (when you jump on something, you fall through it and get pushed back)

I have been toying a little with the Hammer map editor and.... you can change all that! I was easily able to create a crate which I could freely move around, which didn't push me back and I could jump (and stay) on it!

Just letting you know...

EDIT: Is it just me or is hammer uber-unsteady? As in, crash every 2 minutes...?

(NOTE: I am not quite sure if this should go into Gaming or not. Since it might have some connection with DOD:S, I decided to post it here. Feel free to move my thread if deemed necessary)

Reason behind the bouncy physics feature is that it reduces CPU usage serverside. If you remove the bouncy effect from physics you might encounter alot server performance problems wich causes lag.

Of course its nice to disable that bouncy effect in small areas like indoor rooms etc. but watch out for the performance problems :)

Uh-huh, that's what I figured. Just wanted to inform the unaware that what CS does is not really Source's limitation...

yea, i was very disapointed with css whith the bouncy objects..... because towards the end of the beta you could puss and jump on objects without them pushing you away.

but when it went public they changed it back :(

if its a map variable that would be great :D

its obvious that mappers will have to be using a limited amount of moveable and destructable props for multiplayer maps. Sad but true. I dont think that will really kill any maps though. The ragdoll physics, lighting and textures are enough for me :)
