In what part do you need help?

Setting the transparency colours?
or
Applying the transparency "modifier".

If the transparent areas are just black.. then try clicking the little "transparent" box in the textures tab of hlmv

"transparent" is on, and the original model shows the areas transparent, only my re-compile is non-transparent.

you didnt reset the pallete transparency when you saved the bmp

It is kind of buggy
there are times when it will not, no matter what I do, show transparent in HLMV, then it will be transparent in the game. Then there are times when it is blue in the skin preview, then clear in the 3d view.

Make sure of 2 things:
1- blue is (FF0000) - usualy doesn't matter with the new way transparencies are done, but won't hurt to check
2- the color you are trying to make transparent is the 256th color in your table.

Since you said your transparent color is "black", I will assume the 2 above are most likely OK, but check.

I made a gun with holes in it and i could not see it as transparent, but I sent it to someone and they saw it, and then they sent it back, untouched, just like I sent it to him, and it worked. Like I said it is buggy.

iŽd like to ask that, too.

*edit*
it works now! it was really related to the "transparent" box, i must have done something wrong when i looked at my freshly compiled model the first time.

but could u explain transparency of skins anyway or add some links to some tutorials, please?

Check the link in my sig that says "How to make your own flags" and read the whole thing, not just my tut, but the responses too he asks about transparency

ok, thank you. i think i got it now, u only have to make the transparent areas 0 0 255 blue, how easy, i thought it would be more complex and would involve messing around with the .qc file.
thank you
