Considering VALVe's commitment to the custom community, I would have been surprised if they let it go for a while. I bet they had coders staying up all night and day to fix this problem.

They didn't fix anything... they just checked if the custom content was causing problems for some people.

Custom stuff was causing HL to crash, so they disabled it until they fixed the bug.
